New Fast and Furious docs released by White House

WASHINGTON - Late Friday, the White House turned over new documents in the Congressional investigation into the ATF "Fast and Furious" gunwalking scandal.

The documents show extensive communications between then-ATF Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix office Bill Newell - who led Fast and Furious - and then-White House National Security Staffer Kevin O'Reilly. Emails indicate the two also spoke on the phone. Such detailed, direct communications between a local ATF manager in Phoenix and a White House national security staffer has raised interest among Congressional investigators looking into Fast and Furious. Newell has said he and O'Reilly are long time friends.

ATF agents say that in Fast and Furious, their agency allowed thousands of assault rifles and other weapons to be sold to suspected traffickers for Mexican drug cartels. At least two of the guns turned up at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry last December.

The Assistant to the NSA would likely have done a lot of the leg work to gather the information in the briefings. The NSA (National Security Advisor) is tasked with bringing briefings to the President. Not jsut the information he has asked for, but also anything that the NSA believes should be brought to the attention of the President. It is part of the function of the NSA inside the national Security Council. From the White House website:

National Security Council

The National Security Council (NSC) is the President's principal forum for considering national security and foreign policy matters with his senior national security advisors and cabinet officials. Since its inception under President Truman, the Council's function has been to advise and assist the President on national security and foreign policies. The Council also serves as the President's principal arm for coordinating these policies among various government agencies.

The NSC is chaired by the President. Its regular attendees (both statutory and non-statutory) are the Vice President, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Defense, and the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the statutory military advisor to the Council, and the Director of National Intelligence is the intelligence advisor. The Chief of Staff to the President, Counsel to the President, and the Assistant to the President for Economic Policy are invited to attend any NSC meeting. The Attorney General and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget are invited to attend meetings pertaining to their responsibilities. The heads of other executive departments and agencies, as well as other senior officials, are invited to attend meetings of the NSC when appropriate.

The National Security Council was established by the National Security Act of 1947 (PL 235 - 61 Stat. 496; U.S.C. 402), amended by the National Security Act Amendments of 1949 (63 Stat. 579; 50 U.S.C. 401 et seq.). Later in 1949, as part of the Reorganization Plan, the Council was placed in the Executive Office of the President.

Bet both butt cheeks that Obama knew SOMETHING about Gun Walker, if he DID NOT, then the Assistant to the National Security Advisor should have been fired ALREADY. I notice he is still at work along with HIS assistant - the same one who was talking so extensively to the Agents in Charge.....

Rhey knew about GUNRUNNER and AFTER it was renewed and fully funded by congress, they PIGGYBACKED FAST AND SPURIOUS which was a radical split from GUNRUNNER. That was their plan and they got the LEGIT info on HOW to “walk” the weapons from the reports that were secretly sent to the NSS.

Yep. There is NO WAY Obama didn’t know about it.

It’s nothing special Lucy. It all comes from knowing how the governmentis structured. It is complex, but it is far more ordered than most people realize. There is a real solid chain of command. It is ordered and predictible. It also demands accountability because each section has a specific responsiblity and set of duties.

The North American Assistant reports to the Assistant to the President, the National Security Advisor - under Bush 43, that person was Stephen Hadley.... yeah, so imagine an assistant to Hadley gathering up information on things going on in North America and talking to a Special Agent in charge of Fast n Furious, or Gun Walker... EXACTLY.....!!!!! There is a structure here, and in that structure, if someone at Hadley’s level did NOT know about an op like this, then that North American Assistant would have been fired for failing to inform his boss of an op he was CLEARLY deliberately tracking.

To make that assumption... for Obama to assert he didn’t know... WTF. No way. There is just NO WAY.

I also tried to explain early into this that it is illegal for agencies of the federal ggovernment to initiate fund transfers between them. The only agency that can receive money this way by law, is the CIA. Any other agency MUST have a SIGNED order from the president. Somewhere, that order exists.
Funds were transferred between several DIFFERENT agencies during this operation.
