Democrats Dispirited About Voting in 2012

Republicans' enthusiasm for voting matches 2004 and exceeds 2008

PRINCETON, NJ -- In thinking about the 2012 presidential election, 45% of Democrats and independents who lean Democratic say they are more enthusiastic about voting than usual, while nearly as many, 44%, are less enthusiastic. This is in sharp contrast to 2008 and, to a lesser extent, 2004, when the great majority of Democrats expressed heightened enthusiasm about voting.

Democrats' muted response to voting in 2012 also contrasts with Republicans' eagerness. Nearly 6 in 10 Republicans, 58%, describe themselves as more enthusiastic about voting. That is nearly identical to Republicans' average level of enthusiasm in 2004 (59%) and higher than it was at most points in 2008.

~ snip~

Gallup's initial -- and early -- reading on Republicans' and Democrats' enthusiasm for 2012 indicates the emotional climate surrounding that election could be quite different from the climate in 2008, when Democrat Barack Obama won, partly owing to supermajority support from several groups. Democrats' current enthusiasm about voting is not only lower than it was in 2008, but lower than in 2004, when Republican George W. Bush won re-election.

While Gallup has not been able to establish a statistical link between heightened enthusiasm and greater turnout in past elections, the party with the enthusiasm advantage generally tends to fare better. Given that President Obama's job approval rating continues to hover around 40% and that he appears vulnerable in the general election, it is not surprising that Democrats are currently less enthusiastic than Republicans about voting in 2012. However, should this pattern continue well into next year, it could be an important indicator of which way the election will go.

Democrats dispirited?.....I can’t wait till they get psychotic!.....and they will!

I expect to see that sort of behavior out of the hard core commies of the cult, but I think the rank and file will simply be depressed and miserable.

Utopia Denied 2012!

Had there been a better candidate - imagine the number of voters who would have shown up instead of sitting at home.

Have we learned our lesson?

If we finish up with a lesser candidate & VP nominee - we will be saddled with the Socialist for 4 more years!

Our candidate will carry a huge burden - again!!!!

You left out GWB and the Republican Congress. All three contributed to the election of FUBO.

suspend the campaign and fly back to D.C.

The minute I heard McCain say that he was suspending the campaign, I knew we had lost. I remember feeling angry and disgusted at the same time.

Every last one of those Rat pigs voted for ObamaCare.
They deserve a lot more than just being in a death spiral...a prison cell comes to mind.
The sooner they crash & burn, the sooner the grown-ups can start putting the country back together.

“...The Rats are in a death spiral...”

Good.

But it ain’t over till it’s over, brother.

They have a Vote Fraud generating machine like no other.

Like all criminal enterprises, they’ll get desperate and dangerous as they watch their chance to turn us into a communist sh*thole slipping further and further away.

Owning the US Government has been their wet dream for a long, long time. They won’t let go of it so easily.

Watch for them to stage a Reichstag Moment of some sort. It’s a very real possibility.

Dateline: Wednesday, November 7, 2012: One day after undergoing the greatest electorial defeat in American history, President Obama was seen rallying his dispirited urban supporters.

"This is not over! We will take to the streets! We will get in their faces! We will do WHATEVER IT TAKES!"

"Now is the time! Now is the time!"

The failure of socialism has been in front of their faces the whole time. California, Detroit, Europe, Cuba, Venezuela.

I laughed when both China and Russia warned us about jumping feet first into full scale socialism. I guess they wanted markets that had money left to buy oil and other products instead of more broke almost third world countries.

If the smartest evah! black president can’t get the policies to work, they should despair.

Yes, and the democrats are falling all over themselves with the possiblity that Romney will be the GOP nominee so we won’t have too much enthusiasm either.

Evidence of failure does not dissuade them. They will merely reply that they didn't have the right persons in charge. This will be the same for our current situation. We are even seeing the first signs of this now: "Obama just wasn't prepared", "He was a disappointment", etc.
