Palin On Why She Might Not Run
National Journal ^ | 11/28/2011 | National Journal Staff

Acknowledging that "decisions have to be made" quickly, Sarah Palin on Tuesday laid out a case for not running for president in 2012.

Appearing on Fox News' On the Record, a favorite venue, Palin appeared to be talking herself out of the race in an interview with host Greta Van Susteren.

"Is a campaign too shackling?" she mused. As the GOP's 2008 vice presidential nominee, Palin said she felt encumbered by "handlers." Running for office "prohibits the freedom one needs to really make a difference," said the self-described "rogue" politician.

Added Palin: "You don't need a title to make a difference."

Palin, who set off widespread speculation about her intentions with a series of high-profile bus tours this summer and campaign-like videos on her website, acknowledged that she can't wait much longer to make up her mind. "You have to get your ducks lined up in order to get your names on ballots," she said. Deadlines begin to fall for candidate filings in some states next month.

I watched very carefully and and her eyes said she has no intention of running.

Not surprised. The old MSM would have a field day.

“I watched very carefully and and her eyes said she has no intention of running.”

That may be true, and if so it will be a great loss for our country. We’ll know for sure by the end of October.

Perhaps Herman Cain will approach her about the VP slot, that might still be a good fit for her if she doesn’t want the power/responsibility/headaches of the POTUS role. I’d personally have no problem whatever with a Cain/Palin ticket!

Palin ‘12!!!

They are from the same cloth. If Sara doesn’t jump in, most of her supporters will pick Cain. They have the same fundamental values. They couldn’t be more different on the outside but strikingly the same on the inside. They share the same heart/soul. God fearing America living patriots.

Sarah is still a young woman. I expect her to endorse Herman Cain and run in 2022 in order to continue the successes of a Cain Presidency.

Well duh! Anybody you know tell you this would happen ??? Starting about 8 to 12 months ago?

Still this will not wake-up some. They bet the whole farm on 'running'.

Yes they do!

Thinking with my head instead of my heart, I think Cain would probably go with more of an “establishment politician” in the VP slot, since he’s a “rogue” in the same sense as Palin. That would probably be the smart thing to do - I hope he can find a good fit, I can’t think of one (besides Sarah) offhand.

The current crop of politicians is pretty pathetic!

Palin just might do that. She talked about “Herm” Cain for about 5 minutes of the interview!

Cain would do well to pick a foreign policy wonk like Jon Bolton.

Good grief - a math mistake (again) something Herman would not make;)

I actually realized it before your post - and after my second coffee.

If Palin doesn’t run, Dept. of Energy would be a good post for her.

She can also help dismantle it!

Is it ok to really like Palin, to thank God she is part of our political scene, to respect her decision on this - and yet to have some smug satisfaction towards her most over the top sycophantic worshippers who have been insisting she was playing this thing out perfectly — all at the same time?

Just wondering?

Because that’s what Republicans do, dismantle things. Happens all the time.

She’s not running, and apparently not going to.
Now all Obama has to do is beat Mitt Romney. And all we have to do is...[I’m going with the euphemism here on a family-rated site]...all we have to do is simulate ecstasy when we vote for Romney.
