Washington, DC, United States (AHN) –Mexico’s attorney general is demanding an explanation from the United States as evidence grows the Obama administration was more deeply involved in Operation Fast and Furious than top officials admitted in previous statements.
Operation Fast and Furious was a federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives effort to track more than 2,000 smuggled guns to Mexican drug cartels by allowing gang members to purchase them illegally from U.S. gun stores then take them back to their leaders. However, the federal agency lost track of many of the guns.
Some later were traced to murders of police and civilians in Mexico. Officially, the Justice Department says the operation backfired but did not admit U.S. agents sold the guns to the Mexican smugglers.
In June, President Barack Obama said he would take “appropriate action” against organizers of the operation. He said it never was approved by top Justice Department officials.
Investigative news stories this week cast doubt on reports of no high-level government involvement. Documents obtained from Fox News show ATF agents sold some of the guns to gang members. They allegedly purchased the guns with taxpayer money.
Mexican Attorney General Marisela Morales called Operation Fast and Furious “an attack on Mexicans’ security.” She said she learned about the operation in the news media rather than being told about it in advance by U.S. government officials.
She said that if U.S. federal officials were involved, it would be a “betrayal” of Mexico while its police and military were fighting a war against drug cartels. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the war that started in December 2006.
Morales said she would await results of congressional investigations into the operation before making any conclusions over who should be blamed.

If this guy can get Washington to come clean on what all happened, maybe he could let us in on it.

The people of the United States would like an explanation also. For once in their life, our government should try telling the truth. It might actually feel good. The truth is going to come out, just like Solyndra and people are going to jail. It will all depend on who drops the dime first. Those caught in the net will wish they turned first.

In nominating Marisela Morales, Calderon said the current head of the organized crime special investigations unit "enjoys prestige inside and outside the country."Earlier this month, Morales was presented with a 2011 Women of Courage Award in Washington by U.S. first lady Michelle Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Since US officers were directly involved and this was an export of US weapons, I believe this would REQUIRE licenses from the US Dept of State.
If they didn’t do that then EVERY person involved in the authorization and transfer chain is guilty of major felonies —perhaps hundreds of them, since this maybe have happened hundreds of times.
Then there is also the matter of circumventing the FBI instant background check system, and knowingly providing weapons to felons.
Then there’s the fact that the end-users were transnational narcoterrorists —that’s bad. Just about every federal LE document is replete with mentions of, “the rise of dangerous new trans-national criminal actors”. I mean combatting this new subtype is hot, hot, hot.
But here, US law enforcement played ARMS SUPPLIERS to them..! Knowingly, and with tax-payer money.
I’m still getting over believing all this —it’s completely amazing.
We let these idiots buy weapons up here to see where they’d end up and it not surprisingly ended badly.
But that’s not important right now.
Congrssman Issa should invite the Mexican attorney general to testify. It would make the Republicans look sympathetic towards Mexicans and it would make 0bama look bad. This is one of the few times that Mexico has a legitimate beef with the U.S. goberment.

Aren’t there many rank and file ATF agents that would have some information to give here?
Are they not regular Americans who aren’t digging the whole marxist, anti-America, anti-Constitution thing?
Aren’t they worried that those weapons will come back to kill either themselves or at least a fellow agent?
Are they proud to be arming Mexican drug cartels?
Are they proud to be destabilizing the rule of law in America? Not to mention Mexico?
Do these agents have children?
Are they glad a border agent was murdered and they are covering that up for a Marxist?
Aren’t most of these agents former military members?
Shouldn’t there be a line out of Issa’s office and around the building of agents wanting to be whistle blowers?

Considering this Dog and Pony show will have no real results, nobody will be prosecuted, zip,zilch,nada. I propose a lobbying campaign to The Attorney General of Mexico, asking him to Indict the Whole Bunch from Eric Holder on down, Issue Felony Murder Warrants and Gun Smuggling Charges then we just need to allow their extradition once Mexico makes a formal demand. I see no LEGAL reason they they could fight EXTRADITION with. Seems to me there is more than enough evidence to convict ALL OF THEM IN MEXICO, right now, without any further investigation.
It's worse than that. Much worse.
First, we not only let them "buy weapons up here", we gave them the money to make the purchases! Over $10 million was funded in Porkulus for Fast & Furious gun purchases.
Second, there was absolutely no effort to "track" the weapons. The only appropriation and effort made to track the weapons was by an individual ATF agent who, recognizing this flaw, bought two GPS devices at Radio Shack out of his own pocket. He incorporated them into a pair of shipments, but the batteries gave out before he could learn anything.
That was the only effort that the ATF, the FBI or DEA made to "track" the weapons.
So, obviously, "tracking" the weapons was not the point of the operation.
In that case, what do you suppose it was all about...???
And from another thread we’re seeing that grenades were also involved. I’m speechless.
