Herman Cain Leads Republican Field In Zogby Poll
Human Events ^ | 9/27/11 | John Hayward

A new Zogby poll puts Herman Cain at the top of the Republican field, as the top choice of 28% of poll respondents. (IBOPE Zogby International says the polling sample consists of “all likely voters and of likely Republican primary voters.”)

Rounding out the top three are Rick Perry at 18%, and Mitt Romney at 17%. Fourth place goes to Ron Paul at 11%. Paul’s the most solid performer in Zogby’s polling history for the 2012 GOP race – his 11% might as well be chiseled in stone.

Interestingly, this poll was conducted after the Orlando GOP debate, but before Cain won the Florida straw poll. It’s a huge surge for Cain, who was polling at 12% just two weeks previously, and was floating at a campaign low of 8% two weeks before that. Aside from that bitter 8% number, Cain has generally done quite well in the Zogby poll, usually good enough for second or third place.

On the other hand, Rick Perry’s numbers in the Zogby poll have cratered, falling 19% in just two weeks. His debut last month was also his high-water mark thus far, when Zogby had him at 41%.

This poll was not based upon the Straw poll, but taken before it.

Cain popularity with voters is real and not a "protest" (whoever coined this ridiculous concept?) vote.

I don't agree. Cain was a nobody until Rick Perry faltered and there was a power vacuum in the GOP field.

I think Cain's VERY recent surge is simply a No Confidence vote in the current field. He's simply standing taller than the rest of the midgets for NOW.

I like Cain, but we haven’t seen how he’ll respond when the other candidates gang up on him at the next debate.

Condescend much?

He connected with the listeners/viewers at the debate and at his subsequent CPAC-FL speech. He had problems with name recognition but his Positive Intensity Score has been the highest of all candidates and potential candidates all along.

Those of us who knew him before loved him. Now others know about him and love him too. He’s the real deal.

Cain’s loyalty to the conservative values he endorses has never really been tested under fire. If he gets the nomination, I’ll vote for him but I would rather see Bachmann get it. even if she is a ditz at times, her conservatism has, many times, been weighed and measured and never found wanting.

Who was calling this a two-man race last week? They are revealed for fools.

Herman Cain was "all the rage" for a good while when he first entered. We all had a good listen to what he had to say. His Foreign Policy (lack of) knowledge was quite apparent and alarming.

The minute other, more seasoned, candidates got in, Cain dropped to the bottom and was essentially forgotten.

Now Perry has self destructed and there's a desperate anti-Romney power vacuum amongst Tea Party and Constitutional Conservatives. Hence the Cain "surge", IMHO.

More Candidates will get in and Cain will falter and fall back again.

No, but her judgement has.

My husband and I have joined the Cain Mutiny!

This video shows the character of the man, a man in whom there is no guile. (In our humble opinion):
http://blogs.cbn.com/thebrodyfile/archive/2011/03/22/herman-cains-story-of-gods-healing-power.aspx

Come election day, if his name is not on the ballot, we will write it there. I know that is supposed to be a vote for Zero but the time has come to stand up for our faith.

Herman Cain for President!

Sarah welcome to join the ticket. :-)

Here are two facts that comprise the current situation... his 999 plan is workable while not perfect... and he is leagues above the other two guys that were leading.

He needs a “ground game”, a plan to get his supporters to the polls on primary day, and to get those degates who are not chosen in the primaries. It’s that “ground game” that ultimately wins elections, especially close ones - oh, and having friendly state attorneys general and election commissions helps.

Thank you for that link--great reading!

And as a campaign slogan, I love "THE CAIN MUTINY"!

It's clever--and really "tells it like it is" for those of us who are sick of political "double-talk"!

A good executive will make the right choices for his cabinet and advisors.

I trust Herman Cain. The only stronger candidates in terms of foreign policy are Huntsman (a diplomat) and Newt (a scholar). Everyone else is on a par with Cain.

On the 4th posting of this INTERNET poll last night, I said I expected to see it posted 10 times before a legit random poll gets announced. By my count, this makes thread number 6.

Has Cain ever showed a tendency to have “the chip” on his shoulder. Dude’s life needs to be reviewed with an electron microscope.

How do you feel about the Federal Reserve System? Do you think The Federal Reserve is good for America?

:: I trust Herman Cain ::

I believe this is a requisite position. I trust Cain, too. I trust him to be a constitutional American that will work diligently to resurrect the American dream, the American primacy that I was born into.

We need to get this guy the (R) nomination...
