Philippe I of Spain would be distressed to hear this news.
Nice looking ship on the surface; pity that it won’t stay afloat very long if they start picking a fight with Israel.
One must think Turkey had help.
Didn’t Greece just buy a bunch of submarines...?
Is this the ship where the Turks are going unveil their deadly tennis ball machine gun close-in defense system?
Fault!
Zackly!! mess with JEWS, hello Davy Jones.
That is exactly the way I read it the first time I scanned the title! LOL - they should have called Evenrude! Was the first thought I had.
i read it that way too
The Heybeliada. That’s the noise the captain makes after the hull cracks.
Actually, Turkey has a very respectable navy, especially compared to the Israeli naval force. The Israel navy is little more then a coastal defense force, and not that large or well funded. The Turkish navy is far larger, equipped with modern equipment like the 12 MEKO-200 frigates they have in service (each of which displaces almost as much as the Israelis entire fleet of general purpose warships put together), and is pretty experienced due to their long running cold war with Greece. The Turks aren’t Arabs, and expecting their navy to crumble like deck of cards like the Arab armies did back in the 60’s and 70’would probably not end well for Israeli. In fact, that’s probably why Israel signed that defense pact with Greece, since adding the significant Greek Navy to their own forces in the event of war would go a long way to balancing things out in the case of war.
I’d like to see a Turkey sub...
No freaking way they built that. It has to be made by Mattel.
The Russkies are heavily involved in the Greek Cypriote plans to develop their off-shore oil. Russian crews will be manning the oil rigs. Putin said he would be sending Russian submarines to keep watch over the rigs.
The Russians have made a lot of investments in Cyprus, which they use as an off-shore banking center.
So the Turks will be butting up against the Russians. Should get interesting.
Exactly. Many freepers need to learn more about the World outside the USA.
The Turkish navy while larger is still not an expeditionary force. They will have little chance against Israeli air strikes if they operate far from base.
