Could be that Mitt deserves every attack he is getting right now which is few for some reason.

The media is doing their best to not allow any attacks on Romney as they are saving it for later.

The point is about Romney praising a Federal Education initiative, and from Obama no less, then trying to say he didn’t or isn’t.

An ad is not created to include words that aren’t relevant to the ad’s point. Save that for a debate or a different ad. That the ad didn’t include Romney saying “best left to the states” is not the least dishonest.

The ad hit the point being made, which is in the first sentence of my post.

That’s all an ad should do.

Romney is extremely dishonest and has been his entire career. He’s just very glib. Very very very glib, very very very quick on his feet, very very very slick and smooth.

Perry is hamhanded in the very areas Romney excels in, but his ads seem to be good and on target...the ones I’m familiar with, anyway.

I couldn’t disagree more that Perry will say anything. That’s Romney. Perry has actually said stuff he appears to believe, that have brought a ton of negative down on his own head.

Hard to have it both ways...you can’t stand Perry bc you hate some of his positions and some of his inartful attempts to articulate them, at the same time you hate him because he will say anything to get elected, and some of you even call him “slick Rick”.

DUH. How’s that???

Here’s some facts about Rick Perry, and these facts demonstrate he is quite conservative on almost everything, though nobody’s perfectly so. I post these because many say he’s RINO, many say he’s a Lib.

Pro life.

Pro gun rights.

Pro 10th Amendment against Federal overreach.

Pro traditional marriage.

Pro Boy Scouts right to exclude gays from Scouting.

Pro Israel.

Pro Social Security reform against Ponzi Schemes.

Self proclaimed Evangelical Christian.

Runs a low tax, low regulation, low litigation state.

Against Obamacare.

Against Global Warming and the EPA.

Doesn’t even believe in the Theory of Evolution

This is the profile of a RINO/Liberal?

No.

Perry selectively edited out the end of Romney's remarks

Unless he actually put Romney's entire speech into his commercial, of COURSE he "selectively edited" the remarks. He certainly didn't "unslectively edit" the remarks.

But he also didn't "edit" the remarks by taking things out of the middle, or removing the context. He simply didn't include additioanal information about what Romney said.

The Romney supporter over at NR thought this was a HUGE deal that Romney actually mentioned giving it back to the states, as if that changes the premise of what Romney was sayting.

Romney clearly did support the idea of the federal government dictating educational aspects to the states. Romney didn't speak out against No Child Left Behind when he was Governor and had to implement it, he didn't reject money associated with it, and he said nice things about it.

Texas numbers are dragged down by the high % of hispanics.
Not to forget massive blacks dropout rate.

Just like other States, Texas education suffers much from Teachers Unions.

If Perry does nothing more than take down Mitt Romney and make him toxic to the Republican voter (as he should be), I will consider him a personal hero.

Not only that, but we inherited the flotsam and jetsum of New Orleans who fled to Houston and decided to stay there.

Please... you former governors of states with no illegals or legals, don’t even try to compare yourselves with Texas.

And I still like Perry although he disappointed me ... not with what he has done but with how he has handled the explanations of it.

Wasn’t Perry a Democrat who was Al Gore’s campaign manager in Texas? I didn’t see that on your list. Please clarify, because it bothers me a lot and I don’t understand how Perry can be “the” Free Republic candidate with this background.

Back in the 80’s when the entire South was Democratic but also ultra conservative, Perry supposedly supported Gore for the nomination as both were democrats. Of course, Gore did not receive the nomination. After that, the Democrats and Gore turned liberal and Perry switched parties because the party left him.

He points out that after that time, “he found religion and Gore went to hell.” LOL

No, the point is about him praising the idea of having standards and testing. The sentence left out of the Perry ad is the one where he says that he doesn't praise the federal initiative as a federal initiative. That's where Rick Perry is dishonest. Perry is trying to make the discussion of standards into something entirely different.

Actually, the ad removes the context entirely. The point of Mitt Romney's comments was that he approves of standards and testing at the state level. The Perry campaign edited out the statement that makes clear that these things should be done at the state level. Removing that context is the part that is dishonest.

About my list, it was driven by the need to show the positions Perry holds that show him as a conservative. They are to refute those who are all over this site calling him a RINO/Liberal. How dishonest would you have to be, to read my list and still claim this man is a RINO/Liberal? But people do that dishonesty all the time, in droves.

That’s why on my list of conservative issue positions for Perry I didn’t put...he was for Gore in 1988 in the Democrat primary in Texas. That wasn’t the point of my list, and my list did prove my point. On almost everything this man is a boffo conservative. Note I said, almost.

Texas was a long, long time Democrat state. Many, many card carrying Republicans today were yesteryear’s Democrats. It took a long time, and lots of fits and starts, for Texas to turn even marginally Republican, much less fully Republican.

A number of Texans have changed parties, some of them famous (John Connally, Phil Gramm, Ralph Hall - long time congressman from rural North Texas and unbelievably conservative), most of them just ordinary Joes. They did so at various times in our history, some of them took longer than others but even the lagards came around.

As you must be aware, Reagan was an FDR Democrat. Look what he did after he changed!

As for Perry running Gore’s TX Primary campaign, both Perry and Gore say that isn’t true, that Perry did express his support for Gore but was not in charge of whatever effort Gore had in TX.

According to Perry, when Michael Dukakis not Gore won the nomination, he voted for George HW Bush against Dukakis in the general election.

Perry also says that he voted for Reagan against Carter and Reagan against Mondale.

I assure you, as a lifelong Texan, this is a voting profile that millions of Texans have, who were once Democrats and are now Republicans.
