Electoral racism in its most egregious form is the unwillingness of whites to vote for blacks regardless of qualifications or ideology. So far, Barack Obama has been involved in two elections that suggest such racism is no longer operative. His reelection bid, however, may indicate that a more insidious form of racism has replaced it.
The 2004 Illinois Senate race between Obama and Alan Keyes, two African Americans, was a unique test of old-fashioned electoral racism. For a truly committed racist, neither would have been acceptable.
In 2008, the long primary battle between Hillary Clinton and Obama added hundreds of thousands of Democrats to the rolls. By October, it was clear that Obama could lose the general election only if many of these Democrats failed to turn out or crossed party lines - which, after eight years of Bush, could be interpreted only as electoral racism.
The 2012 election is a test of whether Obama will be held to standards never before imposed on an incumbent. If he is, it may be the triumph of a more subtle form of racism.

I wonder if the good professor looked up comparable numbers for Jimmy Carter.
The professor is a loon. Bill Clinton was reelected despite several simmering scandals because the economy was booming. It helped that the world was at peace and that a Republican Congress had enacted welfare reform and was on track to balance the budget — both over Clinton’s opposition, though he would take credit for them once they were done. Obama, on the other hand, took a tough situation and made it dramatically worse. The professor apparently thinks it is racist to notice.
“Electoral racism in its most egregious form is the unwillingness of whites to vote for blacks regardless of qualifications or ideology.”
Oh really? So is it somehow less egregious if blacks are unwilling to vote for whites regardless of qualifications or ideology? This tactic of accusing whites of racism unless they vote for Obama is getting really annoying, and I predict there will be a backlash against it.
Billboard in Alabama.
In 2008, Obama said he was one thing, even though he was something else. I guess the high standard is believing what a candidate said? We should bow down to his historic presidency and ignore everything else?

“Oh wait, I see why it’s about race.....”
Affirmative Action PERSONIFIED. Imagine the spittle the students sitting in the front row of her “lectures”, have to wash off their faces every day, as a result of her “honky bashing” diatribes.
Another very sick mind.
FDR was reelected three times while pursuing much the same economic lunacy as Zero has, with the same results. But at least he wasn't trying to help the Iranians get nuclear weapons.whether Obama will be held to standards never before imposed on an incumbent
Not the Iranians, no - but the Russians, that's another matter. The were our allies - and if they asked for Uranium, Harry Hopkins would send them Uranium.

I am a black conservative saying this:
2008’s Barack Obama, minus the color of his skin, would have brought us President Hillary Rotten Clinton...just as committed a Marxist as is Barry.
“I found Melissa Harris-Perrys picture on Google, and she looks like a liberal.”
That ‘look’ can be recognized a mile away—and it’s a scary one.
A third rate Marxist academic poltical hack calls anyone who might vote against Obama a racist.
This will work on feeble minded college students who want to pass her hell-on-earth crap courses, but is wearing thin out here in the Real World.
“The 2012 election is a test of whether Obama will be held to standards never before imposed on an incumbent.”
OMG! This is just TOO funny! Assuming this nonsense was true, which of course it’s not, then Jews, Hispanics and Blacks must be racist too because the polls already show Obama has not only lost white voters, he’s lost the Jewish and Hispanic vote now as well, and he’s rapidly losing the black vote too! I guess this pretty much means EVERYONE is a racist! At least everyone is a racist if one’s definition of a racist is anyone opposed to Obama.
It’s hard to believe the Inquirer publishes such nonsense. OK, I lie. It’s not hard to believe at all.
And virtually all blacks voting for Obama isn’t racist?
Is Herman Cain the left’s worst nightmare?

Can you get me some of that catnip? It certainly seems to inspire rosy thoughts!
Real World: Black support for Obama will bottom out in the low 90s. Jewish support in the high 60s. Hispanic support, ditto. Best case scenario.
IMNSHO, The key to the next one is getting old and not-so-old plain vanilla male people off their couches and out to the polls. And we need to get old and not-so-old plain vanilla female people out of the mall and over to that voting place, too. In fact, the latter is probably more important to victory than the former.
Don't turn out lazy-dog Republicans. Roust'em out ... drag'em out ... get'em voting. With a 70%+ turn-out, we win and it will help dampen the inevitable fraud.
IMNSHO, The Plan all along, was for the fool to take the heat and do the heavy lifting on the Socialist conversion of the US, and then for Hillary, being all-around smarter, to come in and consolidate the change into a Euro-Style cradle-to-the-grave socialist state.
Heck, that still might work for them if HC decides on a primary or two.
Hey Melissa - call me racist if you like, but I don’t like Obama’s white half either.
What it tells me is, here is another pseudo-intellectual who thinks she’s striking a blow against the oppressive patriarchy by keeping her daddy’s name after her marriage.
Yep, I heard someone point that out once -
“so, you refuse to take your husband’s name, but instead prefer to keep your father’s name?”
