WASHINGTON (AP) In a fiery summons to an important voting bloc, President Barack Obama told blacks on Saturday to quit crying and complaining and "put on your marching shoes" to follow him into battle for jobs and opportunity.
And though he didn't say it directly, for a second term, too.
Obama's speech to the annual awards dinner of the Congressional Black Caucus was his answer to increasingly vocal griping from black leaders that he's been giving away too much in talks with Republicans -- and not doing enough to fight black unemployment, which is nearly double the national average at 16.7 percent.
"It gets folks discouraged. I know. I listen to some of y'all," Obama told an audience of some 3,000 in a darkened Washington convention center.
But he said blacks need to have faith in the future -- and understand that the fight won't be won if they don't rally to his side.
"I need your help," Obama said.

not doing enough to fight
the fight won't be won
Mighty military talk for someone who wants to "change the tone" in Washington.
I wish some of these so-called "journalists" would call him on it, and ask who it is he's "fighting".
Good thing I wasn’t drinking my coffee...I’d have lost it on the keyboard. (no offense to Foghorn Leghorn)...I hate that ‘preachifying’ tone he gets with his black audiences. With Michelle, it’s a natural (although equally irritating) but with him, it is phony, forced and contrite.
Why are the ladies all wearing the same sleeveless black dress? (Are we allowed to say “black dress”?) Is it a uniform that’s required for Obama appearances?
He almost got his audiences mixed up and the word “Jew” started to slip out
Then he remembered he wasn’t in church, or speaking to the black panthers
At least he didn’t say,”Throw down the crack pipes and malt liquor bottles.”.......
What? They aren't?
It was a recording of a lady shouting: “We all gonna be rich - we got Obama now!!”, at the voice-mail of a collection agency which had left her a message about repossessing her car. It was stupid, ridiculous and even a bit humorous — but it was also quite sad.
I wonder what ever became of her...
So, instead of saying, “I say, boy!” like Foghorn Leghorn would say,
he says, “I say, Jew!”... ?
Seems obammy may be pushing for racial violence,
Has re- election come to this?
Say, whut?!
What happened to her, and “Peggy the Moocher”?
(the one that said she wouldn’t have to worry about making her rent payment or putting gas in her car)
Words you’ll never hear: “Shoo bro, I went out an stole me a big ole stack of books yo, read every one of dem too!”
Black unemployment will ALWAYS be high regardless of what any politician does.
1) There is NO work ethic nor desire for education within most of the black welfare community.
2) There is too much DEMAND(of entitlements) from the black community rather than PRODUCE(of services and goods)
3) Those blacks that are employed are way over represented in government—Postal service etc.
4) When men like Bill Cosby attempt to make these points, the black community rips them apart.
5) Those blacks that succeed on their own merit—Herman Cain, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas——are called Toms.
I will say what many are already silently thinking:
I do not care what happens to the black community any longer.PERIOD.

It is rather odd.
They will so be a minority to a minority when the Hispanic population eclipses them if it hasn’t happened already.
Obama is working hard to get the 4 percent of blacks who didnt vote for him in 2008.
Anyplace I work as an IT consultant the ratio of blacks to Indian H1B folks is about 1/20. What does this tell you about people wanting to do tough, mentally-demanding jobs. And yeah there are PLENTY of IT jobs, despite what you hear.
I just heard some clips.
Remember when McCain was floundering in 2008 and he kept saying “fight....fight....fight!” but it all sounded hollow? Obama’s speech reminded me of that.
