Herman Cain No Rodney Dangerfield, but Waiting for Respect After Florida Straw Poll Victory
Fox News ^ | 09/25/2011

Posted on 09/25/2011 7:30:31 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Ecstatic off a Florida straw poll victory that is sure to elevate his visibility, Republican presidential contender Herman Cain said Sunday that the GOP establishment better start paying attention because he's getting respect from voters.

"The takeaway from Florida, that we took away, is that number one, the citizens movement is more powerful than the establishment wants to give me credit for. So yes, they keep treating me like the Rodney Dangerfield of this primary contest," Cain told Fox News.

"The voters, the people out in the field are saying we want to send a message to Washington, D.C. The establishment is not going to make this call, the people are going to make the call and that's what you saw in the Florida straw poll yesterday," he said.

Cain won the straw poll decisively on Saturday, garnering 37 percent of the 2,657 votes cast. Far behind was Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 15. 4 percent and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 14 percent. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum came in fourth with 10.88 percent.

The results were a stunner to many since Cain is out-funded and doesn't have the same name recognition as other candidates like Perry, who also spent time and money on securing a strong showing at the event.

Romney had vowed before the primary season to sit out straw polls but the former Godfather's Pizza CEO has also invested his time in Florida. The winner of the straw poll wins the Florida GOP endorsement ahead of the primary, the date of which is still being disputed.

Usually I worry about our nominee winning the general election. This time I have NO doubt Cain will take Obama to wood shed and have a landside victory. The MSM including Fox and all the good ole boy talking heads like rove, kristol and the rest will brush thus off as an anomoly. Don’t let them distract you. Never ever again will they tell US who we should vote for. The people are SICK of politicians. The want problem solvers.

At this point in the campaign, I see parallels for Herman Cain to Huckabee in 2008 - a below 5%er suddenly thrust into the top three. But Herman has earned his place and Huck was put there by the MSM who wanted him to take votes from Fred.

While Huck was a phony nonconservative televangelist, Herman Cain is the real deal. I think he can build on his newfound attention and truly contend. Of those in the race currently, he is my current favorite. I've liked him from the beginning but did not think he had a chance. He does now.

You’ve basically repeated out loud my exact thoughts. I always knew he is authentic. Glad it’s beginning to catch steam now.

The only problem that I have with Herman Cain is that he has no governing experience.

RE: The only problem that I have with Herman Cain is that he has no governing experience.

Two other concerns:

* Foreign Policy experience

* How healthy is he really?

Right, Herman Cain is the real deal and not some establishment Republican or worse a RINO liberal Republican. I want to see him in a debate with Obama

Considering the kind of job those that have had governing experience do, that might not be a bad thing.

The beauty about Herman Cain is he is a repudiation of both the GOP and Democratic body politic.

O wxpected that LibPervs and his opponents would play doen Herman Cain’s success, but found it onsulting that even brit Hume won’t giove himn any respect.

If there is some critical flaw ewith Hernman Cain’s ((( pklan, or in any nature of his caninacy, would anyone care to point it out? I’ve not made up my mind as to who I will choose, but Cain loks better and better to me, I I will love pointing out what racist liar scum the MSM are, when they begin to attack attack him in earnest.

Morgan Freeman...What a shame to see that he has sunk to neing such a booze pickled, racist, has been. He used to be an actor who deserved respect...Now I wouldn’t want to be like him.

***The only problem that I have with Herman Cain is that he has no governing experience. Foreign policy and health?***

We have been ‘governed’ by the elite for decades and look where we stand domestically and internationally.

H.Cain has executive experience in the retail world - where we all live.

He is smart enough to delegate diplomacy on foreign policy -to someone with experience (Bolton) rather than as a political payoff (Hillary). He will base decisions on his love of this Nation - not on narcissism.

Health? He has more vigor than a younger Clinton. He faced the grim reaper and won!

A man of faith, fidelity and fearlessness.
