President Barack Obama addressed the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Phoenix Award Dinner Saturday night to send a message to an increasingly restless base that he has not forsaken them.
Members of the CBC spent much of the August recess hosting jobs fairs across the country and on occasion were not shy about venting their frustration with the nation's first black President.
But Obama used the occasion to make it clear that while progress has been slow, he has not forgotten them, adding that he will need their help to pass his legislative agenda including his jobs bill and to win reelection next year.
"And I know at times that gets folks discouraged. I know. I listen to some of you all. I understand that. And nobody feels that burden more than I do. Because I know how much we have invested in making sure that were able to move this country forward. But you know, more than a lot of other folks in this country, we know about hard. The people in this room know about hard. And we dont give in to discouragement."
"Throughout our history, change has often come slowly. Progress often takes time. We take a step forward, sometimes we take two steps back. Sometimes we get two steps forward and one step back. But its never a straight line. Its never easy. And I never promised easy. Easy has never been promised to us. But weve had faith. We have had faith. Weve had that good kind of crazy that says, you cant stop marching."

He’s going to run for President like he neve held office before. Let’s all drink the Kool Aid!
I imagine this was read with a black-preacher’s cadence and short statements followed by pauses, a few dropped letters at the ends of words, and lots of hand motions.
“We take a step forward, sometimes we take two steps back. Sometimes we get two steps forward and one step back. But its never a straight line.”
Sounds like a lot of DUI videos. Is he in a room full of drunks?
Actually, he said "y'all," not "you all." As far as grumbling goes, the CBC does it as a lifestyle. ...along with playing the race and class warfare cards. Hussein should be intimately familiar with it.
Dude is UTTERLY incompetant. How the HELL did he make it into office the first time?
This is going to piss off even his most loyal base.
While many Americans have suffered greatly under the corrupt/insane Obama Regime, few have suffered worse than the blacks.
Neve! NEVE’!!!
Congress’s => Caucus’s
Obama reminds me of some obtuse, self-righteous, middle-aged liberal harpy always lecturing and bossing people, and too stupid to realize how ignorant and incompetent she is.
Hmmm... did he just tell them to shut up and get in the back of the bus?
you mean like this one....
Better to go to the back of the bus than to get thrown underneath it, eh?
People who are in a rut are like that. They don’t even need to be abusing a substance. They can abuse themselves by being close-minded and uncritical of their own thinking. I keep thinking that blacks in the US and former Soviet states like Russia have this problem. Welfare-state Europe too.
The Nag in Chief.
I’d say the press should be embarassed for calling this guy an incredible orator, but they’ve been orating him since way back, so they’re too busy to talk.
