The second day of closing arguments in the appeals trial of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito concluded with drama: Prosecutors asked that the pair, currently sentenced to 26 and 25 years, respectively, receive life sentences for the murder and sexual assault of British foreign exchange student Meredith Kercher.
They also asked the court to impose an additional sanction of six months in isolation for Amanda and two months for Raffaele.
Earlier on Saturday, prosecutors reviewed the case against Amanda and Raffaele, focusing on a supposed bloody footprint they claim Sollectio made. The evidence is in doubt, however, because the footprint is 7 centimeters (2.75 inches) too large for Sollecito's shoe size.

I don’t find Coulter’s column convincing at all. Yes, Knox and Sollicito acted strangely the day of the discovery of the murder. Yes, Knox changed her story-—AFTER being kept awake for many hours of constant interrogation by hostile foreign police. Yes, the Italian police insist the wounds must of been made by more than one...(could they be wrong?). Yes, glass was on top of disordered clothes (no college kids EVER leave clothes on the floor, right?).
Still, you have the DNA of the proven murderer (not mentioned by Anne) all over the room—and no DNA of Knox. One piece of DNA evidence, collected many weeks later...in an apparent bungled process, points to Sollicito.
I do not think it’s a “liberal” position to consider innocent until PROVEN guilty beyond a reasonable doubt (which as I understand Roman/Italian law, is NOT the standard). Anne, frankly, just likes being harsh...and anything “liberals” support she opposes.
Knox and Sollicito were not angels, but neither is their real evidence—esp. given no priors—they were sex-fiends into murder (while on marijuana??? Give me a break!).
If I were Knox’s parents I’d be lining up paramilitary types to break her out by force, and out of Italy, if her appeal gets rejected.
From everything I’ve ever read, this case would of never made it to an arrest, let alone a trial, in any American jurisdiction.
If that makes Anne Coulter bitter...so be it!
I don't know if she's innocent or not, but I do get tired of these rich arrogant American "kids" thinking they can do anything in other countries and get away with it....other countries are tired of our sh*t I think.....
I absolutely believe what I read as a result of my own family's experiences in Italy, I can say without hesitation that this is how things are done in Italy. It's very corrupt and anyone in a position of power is almost always related to someone with even more power. If you don't have that relation, you will be expected to get your hands dirty to earn and keep your title. Those who are virtuous don't last.
Winning!
regards,
I don’t know what to think about this case. It’s possible that she was railroaded.
In Italy, the tabloids nicknamed her “Angel Face” for her wholesomely attractive appearance.

My g/f just got back from Italy and the concensus she heard was that Knox got the shaft.
Is there even any real evidence against her at all (besides her “confession”)? I’ve seen nothing to indicate that the African guy didn’t do it all by himself. He only got 16 years btw.
It’s also disgusting that apparently the prosecution can ask for an increased sentence during appeals, that’s what they do in places like Iran.
Everything I’ve read about this makes the prosecutors sound like a bunch of clowns. David E. Kelley couldn’t even write more idiotic characters than these real life bozos.
Nope.
I like I posted earlier, th g/f just got back from Italy and the folks she spoke over there with think they should let her go.
The whole situation is FUBAR.
She and her ex-boyfriend are back home now after some passport issues.
I think justice was done. I don’t buy this “sick sex games” theory of the prosecution. Looks like a simple rape/murder by the African fellow.
I mean robbery/murder. Seems there is no evidence she was raped.
sick sex games you say? Hmmm...:)
