At a campaign-hosted free breakfast where the 3,500 delegates at Presidency Five were invited, Rick Perry essentially raised the stakes on the outcome of the straw poll at the Florida event later today, criticizing other campaigns for skipping it.
"I think that's a big mistake," Perry said. "I think it's very important." Continue Reading
What was clear, however, was how much money and effort Perry's team has put into the straw poll.
On every table was a glossy, two-sided direct mail piece encouraging people to vote in the straw poll, and pitching Perry as "America's jobs governor" and as having "conservative roots grounded in heartland soil."
Perry now needs to perform well at an event where he remains favored to win, but where many activists have expressed concern after his debate outing the other night.
SNIP
The applause for Perry was sincere but not raucous. The room was well attended, with about 1,100 people, but not jam-packed.

Can’t disagree with a word you said.
Herman Cain is the real deal, unlike relabeled Al Gore Demonrat Rick Perry. Cain is the only candidate who actually created jobs in the private sector—the only place real jobs are made. He does not belong to the permanent political class, like Perry. He was never a lawyer. Cain belongs to an evangelical Christian church, not the wimpy “mainstream” United Methodist Church of Slick Rick Perry and G. W. Bush, who think Islam is a “great religion” dedicated to peace. Cain is prepared to stab the socialist welfare state in its class-warfare heart: the progressive income tax.
I agree , Herman Cain is a good guy , conservative. Has a plan and isn’t corrupt and he loves God and the same can be said of Palin. I am Palin first because she has fought the corrupt bastards club and won in Alaska. I am Herman Cain if Palin let’s us down and skips the race.
I tend to agree with your assessment.
Krauthammer cited last night the Buckley position of supporting the most conservative in a given field “who can win.”
Dear God help us.
“Will not vote for under any circumstances and will actively work against: Romney.
Summary: So if you don’t get your way, you will sabotage the country.
Yet another Soldier for Obama in the making.”
Have you ever considered that Romney could do more damage to the country than Obama? And, this far out, how do you even know that the Democrats will even nominate Obama?
We are trying to hold out for Palin.
Neither [Romney nor Perry] has a single principal or leadership bone in their body.
Romney: co-founder of Bain Capital, Governor of Mass., rescued 2002 Olympics, ward bishop and then president of Boston Stake in the LDS Church, and is worth several hundred million dollars. Yeah, no leadership or principles there. Mormons always appoint the worst sort of characters to preside over Stakes, and Bain just hemorrhaged money the entire time Romney was there.
Perry: Governor of one of the most successful States in the country, transforming a weak governorship into a powerful one. Clearly a total lack of leadership there too. You insult the fine people of Texas who voted Perry into office for two decades.
Only a lunatic or full out, mouth breathing idiot would claim that Romney and Perry "don't have a single principle or leadership bone in their body". The opposite is quite true. The evidence is overwhelming and in greater quantity than all of the other candidates combined.
Its one thing to not like someone, hate their religion or the way they debate and express that opinion, its quite another to make such bold public lies about them.
Most of the candidates would make fine Presidents. This hysterical, over-the-top "establishment" claim make you look silly. Save the insane rhetoric for the real enemy and quit the childish temper tantrum.
“I fear only Sarah has the charisma to foil their nefarious plot to destroy the land”
A Palin/Cain ticket would be amazing!!
Well, I hope we get a strong conservative as the nominee. But I won’t go third party, as it is a default vote for Hussein.
Well, I hope we get a strong conservative as the nominee. But I won’t go third party, as it is a default vote for Hussein. Even Huntsman would be better than Hussein.
What did they do? Shut his base of illegal aliens out?
In real life, it is an assurance for four more years of Hussein.
Horse dung. Complete and utter. Thinking people know a half loaf is better than none.
