Romney’s Electability Card Is a Joker to Perry’s Four Aces
Pajamas Media ^ | 23rd Septemeber 2011 | Kyle-Anne Shiver

The Republican nominating contest is shaping up like a great poker game. The former governor of Massachusetts is facing off with the current governor of Texas. The odds-makers are number-crunching the hands. The voters are laying down bets. And the future of America is the stake.

Now, the word among the prestigious movers and shakers – both Republican and Democrat — is that Mitt Romney is holding the all-powerful electability card firmly in his delicate, city-slicker hand. Romney is seen as more temperate in his speaking mode, more sophisticated perhaps, certainly more urbane. Romney has spent nearly all of his adult life in high-rolling circles, board rooms and the like. He could be the poster boy for country club Republicans and apparently, a great many insiders would love to call him their candidate.

Well, okay then. But that still leaves the fundamental question of whether America can be brought back from the precipice of history’s dustbin by Massachusetts-style, bureaucratic, Big Brother government or if it’s going to saddle up and have the courage to swallow a massive shot of Texan low-tax, low-spend, slim-down at the federal level to get us through to a brighter American morning.

Mitt Romney says now that Rick Perry’s governorship of Texas looks so great because he got “dealt 4 aces,” evidently not wanting to credit Perry for any of Texas’ uncommon economic prosperity. But that’s not how Romney characterized Perry’s governorship just four months ago…

While campaigning in Arlington, Texas in May, Romney donned blue jeans and left his silk necktie in the closet. He moseyed on down to Rudy’s Barbeque for a stump speech, in which he gave glowing praise of Governor Perry:

I have an idea: Neither one. It’s like trying to choose between Linseed Grahamnesty and Juan McLame.

Texas looks so great because he got “dealt 4 aces

We've also ben dealt a few bad cards. Like wildfires, the states worst drought in history, ILLEGAL immigration, drug gangs from Mexico. And then we have Austin, the puss filled blister on the ass of Texas that just won't go away.

Obama would be happy with either of them, but I suspect Mitt will hold up better through the primaries.

I was in MA when Dukakis’s “Massachusetts Miracle” fizzled under examination of the actual candidate.

It is sad that the federal reserve owners get to pick the are pliable get along and go along with ‘inside the beltway’ puppets. This country is in desperate need of a conservative, principled, and honest leader.

The idea that a “moderate” Republican is more “electable” sounds reasonable but flies in the face of history.

Ford, Dole, McCain, Hoover, Landon, Dewey- and in 2008, McCain, all fell to crushing defeats.

This theory fails because it fails to understand the fact that just because a voter in undecided and independent doesn’t mean they are “middle of the road”.

Instead it means that they are open to arguments from both sides.

Romney is NOT electable — he would be beaten by Obama by the same margin as Obama beat McCain.

Note the MSM is not beating up Romney — there is a reason for it, it’s the one I stated above.

Also note there isn’t a single positive article about Perry — they are doing everything to knock him out in the primary, trying to turn Republicans against him.

And those on FR who are bashing Perry because he didn’t do well on the debate — are they now all Romney supporters because Romney won the debates?

Perry was not allowed to present any of the positive things he has done. He was getting the “when did you stop beating your wife” type questions.

But Perry will recover — he was way behind Kate Baily Hutchinson, and recovered very nicely to win decisively.

My 80 year old Mother actually watched the debate the other night. She misses a lot of them.

She said Rick Perry will not get her vote.

Said she is tired of Texas politicians dissing US citizens in favor of illegal aliens.

You might need to educate your Mom...without the hispanic vote Republicans can’t win the WH..Rush dicussed this at length on his show the other day...so I guess she is in favor of another 4 years of the dems holding on to the WH?

Horse patoots. Hispanic citizens that came here legally are not for illegal immigration.

That idea is false. Not even the black population is for catering to illegals.

The issue is not a popular one with most voters.

If it were, Obama would have crammed amnesty through when he had it all.

Because Perry is responsible for illegal immigration in TX, it stands to reason that is why NM, AZ and CA don't have a problem with illegal immigrants!

Too bad your mother doesn't understand that the federal government is responsible for protecting the border...and giving benefits to illegals.

I'm confident that you can explain it to her.

Iheard the show. I like Rush, but I disagree with him on this.

Not to mention that Perry is also very unimpressive.

He acts doltish.
