Yesterday I wrote a vignette in jest suggesting what New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie might be yelling at his TV during the GOP debate. Unlike his alter-ego in my vignette, the real Bill Kristol did not call Christie to plead nor drive over to his house to urge him to get into the race. Instead he used his Web site , figuratively speaking, to run over Texas Gov. Rick Perry with an 18-wheeler and drive through Christies living room window:
With nine candidates on the stage, and answers restricted to one minute, its hard to really show your stuff. And two of the candidate Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney did provide respectable performances. But no front-runner in a presidential field has ever, we imagine, had as weak a showing as Rick Perry. It was close to a disqualifying two hours for him. Bills solution: A big man for a big job. And you know who that is.

“...the latest news is that 4 or 5 states might have to jump over Florida and do their primaries in early DECEMBER (2 months from now)”
Hadn’t heard that. You must be a real insider to be able to predict all this.
Guess I got caught up in the Kristol article itself, thinking the debaters’ performances were so bad that the insider republicans still had time to put forth somebody else to run.
By the way, where did you get that stuff about primary election dates being shifted around like that? My state primary date is written in stone; I just can’t conceive of all this helter-skelter manipulation of primaray dates like you describe. Seems like unstable behaviour to me.
Many fools are writing Perry off because debates performance. These fools have no idea how campaign are won and lost and certainly not in debates. Anyway folks, enjoy the delusions that Perry is finished.
sorry- i don’t hold to the belief that all muslims are bad...of course if its not christie/perry/romney but obama again we could look forward to more kagan’s and sotomayor....
True but it’s needed training and the Weed Eater....
consider it to be Pre-Season scrimmages...!
Unfortunately, Kennedy vs Nixon, forever changed the dynamic.
It’s not about what you say, it’s how you look saying it.
Jennifer Rubin... the queen of anti-Perry nitwits.
First Romney, now Christie. Who is next, Rooty Toot?
More importantly he's pro-abortion. There has not been a pro-abortion GOP Presidential nominee since Gerald Ford.
Nice MSM spin calling Perry’s performance a collapse...I quite frankly didn’t see a collapse. But I did see a couple of hysterical people on the stage performing histrionics and melodrama in a desperate attempt to boost their own polls.
I think you're right, if he improves in these "debates". As he gets more practice I think he will get better. The challenge is to just respond and not try to stick to the programmed responses the experts have calculated work best. If he doesn't improve he may be in trouble in the general election.

If the ONLY issue you are concerned about is the Unions, Christie's your man.
But if are concerned about the Second Amendment, Illegal Aliens, and creeping Sharia (he appointed the FIRST Muslim to a Superior Court in New Jersey AND said the Ground Zero Mosque as a “local affair” BEFORE castigating and APPROVING the firing a New Jersey Transit worker who burned a Koran on his OWN TIME to protest the Ground Zero Mosque as committing a “disgusting act”.)
Christ Christie neither understands nor respects the First or Second Amendment and I doubt if he likes the others either.
He's an autocrat.
If you read my posts about RINO Romney, you know I don;t like him. But I would vote HANDS DOWN for Romney if it would keep Christie out of the White House.
He's a menace on the national level.
And I'm from Jersey. I KNOW and I also know very few people here talk as he does. He sounds like he's from Brooklyn not New Jersey.
AND his political Godfather is Arch RINO Tom Kean Senior.
THINK ABOUT IT.
The winner of this year’s GOP primary is going to need the Tea Party, contrary to the Frum and Rubin thinking.
It’s the truth.
Perry lost 99.99999% of that last night....
It’s the truth.
Perry is no Islamophile. And he respects the Second Amendment.
Christie is an Islamophile, pro-Illegals and has no use for the Second Amendment.
That would be a novelty, wouldn't it. Maybe we should just do like the last election and because McNut ran it was better to elect King Obama. Right? The public decides who will run not our little rants. Maybe it is time to get behind who the majority of the voters select.
Poor Perry collapsed, crashed and burned up last night.
Too bad he took bad advice instead of from FR where
he was being vetted.
The crowd followed the antiRINO FReepers, it seems.
Poor Perry COULD HAVE taken out Milt, but now
is too weak. Bye Bye.
This is an important question Romney MUST answer to win. If we don’t ask Obama WILL.
“If you get your own planet (see Mormon beliefs) can you run the country from light years away?”
There are 12 liberal Mormons so Obama won’t worry about offending someone who will vote for him. If Romney really believes in his faith, it’s a serious question
Well it is one thing to beg to differ or to disagree or to have a different perspective, and it is another thing to say that “you don’t have a heart” if you are in disagreement. It would have been so much better if he had left that line out. It seems like a poor strategy to have some issue you are defending to a group and to try to win them over by calling them heartless. However it is his true feeling and he gets points for honesty I guess.
Thank you!
America looks for those who overcome.
Neither Perry nor Palin will attract Dem crossover votes like Romney will.
Of course they could still cast a “feel good” vote should my man Herman Cain win the nom, of course that wouldn’t be what he’s about AT ALL but a vote is a vote ;-)
