Perry saying we have no heart...breaks my heart.

Lets say you were dragged here by your parents when you were 5 and you grew up in Texas and believed you were a Texan and you worked hard and graduated from Texas high school and got good enough grades to get into a Texas State University, what should Texas do to you? Send you back to Mexico, a country you've never been to? Deport you? (BTW only the Federal Government can deport you)?

What should Texas do to you?

If you think we should treat these children like the criminals they aren't, then I'd have to say yes you do not have a heart.

Are we a nation of laws or men’s hearts?

Simple question with a simple answer.

My heart is for the citizens of America and their families now unemployed and suffering. When we fix US, we can deal with them. Or better, let Mexico deal with their own.

Perry goes even further than that, Marlowe. He says that those students must also have ALREADY applied for US citizenship.

So, we have a kid with no country, raised here, graduated here, a done well in school here, AND trying their hardest to get the citizenship thing worked out.

And we’re going to tell them to take a hike. That is heartless.

To give the children of these law breaking illegal alien parents a leg up over the children of law abiding Americans who played by the rules and paid their fair share of taxes all along and then give them the middle finger in favor of the children of illegal alien parents is not what this nation should be about or doing.

If that makes me heartless then so be it. I favor law abiding American parents getting what is fair and just and telling the illegal alien parents to get out and take their children back home with them and let them learn the hard lessons of doing things the legal and proper way and this is what happens when the laws of a nation are flagrantly violated.

These children should not receive any tax payer monies while telling American families, sorry but we don't care about you and your kids never mind that you've worked hard all your life and saved money to help educate your kids and then have a arrogant politician tell you that you don't matter any more and that furthermore you should now keep paying even more taxes to subsidize and educate some illegal aliens kids. Pure BS.

Aren’t they?? Up until we moved out of state, I spent years listening to the local news and police scanners in So Cal. Well over 90% of the criminals on the crime report and the calls on the scanner were about 14-23 yr old illegal Mexicans.

One night we were actually surprised to see a white American teenage criminal. It is that rare.

If they don’t respect our immigration laws, they won’t respect any of our other laws either.

Not giving them in-state tuition is not the same thing as treating them like criminals.

My daughter looked at a book the school counselor gave her about different scholarships. She looked through the whole thing and said, “Mom, I don’t think there are any scholarships for white kids.”

I told her she could say she’s a lesbian quadriplegic Native American, African-American Hispanic Jew...

One of her good friends is Hispanic. They both were invited to take part in some youth leadership conference in Washington DC. My daughter couldn’t go because we couldn’t afford it but the other girl (who unlike us gets free lunches; a family of four with both parents working full-time with good-paying jobs) was able to go. There was a write-up in the paper about how great it was that she was chosen to receive this honor, etc. There was a show on educational TV that focused on her and the other Hispanic kid in the school who is well-integrated into the American culture. The whole thing is to show off the Hispanics who have done well. We have no idea whether these families are legal or illegal, although I think my daughter said her friend is legal but has family members who are illegals so she supports illegal immigration.

These people are friends, and we are happy for their success. But we also recognize that because so many of the Hispanics in our area have just come across the border the kids are not well-integrated and there aren’t a lot of American success stories among them. That doesn’t fit the agenda. So those who do well have to be very visibly displayed and coaxed onward every way possible. Which includes lots of scholarships and awards that a non-Hispanic kid who was just as deserving would never get.

So who - in all that - is being treated like a criminal?

What should Texas do to you?

Not give you in-state tuition while legal U.S. citizens of other states have to pay out-of-state full tuition. If they want to go to college, then they have at least to pay full tuition, not get a break when they are illegal in the first place. You think just like the Dems. It’s the same excuse the Dems always use for welfare recipients who have tons of kids, usually by mothers who are unmarried. Why, we can’t not give them welfare, it will hurt their kids, so we must pay them. It’s for the kids you know. So they have even more kids to get even more money out of the gov’t. Works just great. So now you have a magnet for illegal aliens in Texas; come to our state and you’ll get cheap tuition for college. No questions asked. Good grief, think with your head too or we’ll end up a socialist state. We’re almost there anyway.

Their parents should have thought about that before breaking the law to get here. Send every lawbreaker home.

Perfect summary of the issue. A majority of Americans will not punish children for the crimes of the parents. The long term answer is to control immigration, but we will never get support for that if our position is we should deport children who were raised here.

There are over twelve million illegals in the country, probably more like twenty or thirty million. We cannot fix all of their problems. It is often said that we cannot deport millions of illegals but then these same people believe that we should give them the new amnesty which they now call comprehensive immigration reform. This new amnesty would involve taking down millions of names, making them learn English, and go through several steps to become legal immigrants. It would be much simpler to deport them all (which I think isn't necessary) than to follow them around making sure that they go to English classes every week. How ridiculous! During the Reagan amnesty, there was lots of fraud. Many illegals snuck into the country pretending that they had been here for years. What does anyone think would happen this time?

Compassion begins at home. Americans should put other Americans first and let these people who have made so many problems for us find a way out of their problems. If adults who came here as young children want to become legal, why don't they go to immigration lawyers, with their own money and pay them to help them out. It is possible that many people in this predicament can get a legal way to stay in the country. But it is their problem to solve, not ours.

If they have the good fortune to become legal, they will have to face the fact that their parents may have to go back home. There will be tears, but millions of legal immigrants went through painful separations from loved ones when we came to this country. This has been going on for generations. The Mexicans and Central Americans have little to complain about because unlike immigrants from other parts of the world, they can drive home to visit their family members. They do not have to cross the ocean to visit them. When they miss their families, they can call them on the phone and speak to them. They can keep in touch by email or Facebook. It is not like the days of yesterday when people could only communicate with their loved ones by letters. Technology has truly brought people closer today. So do not shed tears for illegals who have to part with their families, they are no better than we immigrants who had to go through the same thing without the convenience of being able to drive to see our families during vacation.

Americans have to stop being chumps and stop accepting the responsibility for these people. They have the responsibility to fix their own problems. Do they show any concern for all the problems they have caused Americans? No, they only care about themselves.

We have to get all illegals off every kind of welfare there is and we have to use e-verify to keep them from using fake social security cards to get jobs. And there are other steps to make it impossible for them to make a living here. They will leave and if we do not fall for the same error that we did during Reagan's time, they will never come back again. Americans are our responsibility, we cannot carry the whole world on our shoulders.
