Full title: Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal Immigrants
Perry's response was forceful and personal. "I don't think you have a heart," Perry told his critics.
"If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said. "We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today."

Romney is ‘too’ smooth (but he had the last election to practice)
Perry is NO conservative-especially on ‘illegals’
Bachmann is a fine lady BUT not strong enough to be Pres
Newt and Cain are both fine (are they electable?)
However, I WILL vote for whoever gets the nomination for if I don’t the Obamanation may get back in-—please do not sit this one out under any circumstances
You're brave.
But then that is what us native Texans are known for. :-)
Well Luntz did a focus group in Iowa awhile ago and asked about Palin 80% of them wanted Palin to run. It was funny because Luntz almost jumped out of skin he was so shocked.
A DAR pillar of the community from just across the state border in Arkansas who wants to go the same University, is SOL.
Yeah, that makes sense.
If you're Jorge Arbusto maybe.
Are we a nation of laws or men’s hearts?
Simple question with a simple answer.
My heart is for the citizens of America and their families now unemployed and suffering. When we fix US, we can deal with them. Or better, let Mexico deal with their own.
Ok, I have no heart. IMHO, it's damned heartless to force American taxpayers to pay for their K-12 education. It is irrational to educate people who can not legally work here. Unless, of course, your goal is to push for their legalization. Then you'll use the, "We've already paid to educate them. It would be a waste of money not to make them legal so we can use their education."
You are right on this. I’m with you.
Good base line. . .works for me.
Good base line. . .works for me.
It’s time to have a heart and be concerned about the hard pressed citizens of the USA subsidizing illegals, and also competing with them for scarce jobs, and thanks to Gov Perry subsidizing their college education too.
Newt kind of concerned me too when he pulled the classic politico deflect and dodge when he was asked about whether employers should use “e-verify”? He never really answered the question except to say he’d ask employers what they would suggest and then said something like start over and
let Visa or Amex do it. We need to use what is available now and not contract with one of Newts campaign contributors.
When he was a Speaker of the House and did a “contract with America” and he failed to even address illegal immigration. Like all of them they say one thing but then deflect and delay so that the US Chamber of Commerce stays happy while we pay. Business gets used to having them as cheap labor and as customers. BofA was big into giving them mortgage loans in prior years.
Perry goes even further than that, Marlowe. He says that those students must also have ALREADY applied for US citizenship.
So, we have a kid with no country, raised here, graduated here, a done well in school here, AND trying their hardest to get the citizenship thing worked out.
And we’re going to tell them to take a hike. That is heartless.
Yes, he is anti-Palin,so didn't handle that response well at all;I remember that.
Well on the national level, Gov. Palin stated she was against the Dream Act.
Nomination for post of the year. Bears repeating about every 48 hours.
I’ll second that nomination!
Yes that is my opinion of all his focus groups. Luntz is close pals with everybody at NBC/MSNBC
Agreed. Looks nervous, gets an odd look on his face with questions he’s not prepared for, and he licks his lips. Not up to the Job.
Are we a nation of laws or mens hearts?
Simple question with a simple answer.
These children did not break any laws.
And Texas has passed a law giving these children the same rights as any other Texas child who has worked hard and graduated from a Texas High School. That is the law of Texas.
You got a problem with that?
Don't mess with Texas.
