Perry couldn’t get the words out of his mouth tonight.

It should have been easy to nail flip-flopping Romney on his flips on abortion, guns, gay marriage, taxes, and obomney care.

But, he just couldn’t get the words out of his mouth.

Perry did not help himself tonight. Gingrich did. Cain did. Johnson did.

I will cry but when push comes to shove, I would crawl over broken glass to get rid of Obama.

The establishment GOP thanks you for your vote.

It seems more people are willing to accept Romney and see him as credible and viable. My worst nightmare come true.

I've seen us heading down that path for a few weeks now.

A Romney candidacy likely destroys the party. Maybe forever.

I am very down about our prospects at this point.

My worst nightmare is in the White House. If Mitt wins the nomination, I'll support him wholeheartedly; I'll do the same for whoever wins the nomination.

why? Obama will steamroll perry. perry is a less intelligent, less likable, less restrained version of GWB.

No Thanks.

Here come Obama's term two because FReepers can't find their perfect candidate.

Oh baloney....it's still early and there's time to decide and still come together when it matters that they do.

The poster's (who asked the question) son was not a Texas resident, but had a good point. Why should a tax paying U.S. citizen, who wanted to attend TU, not get in state tuition rate while someone who's not even a U.S. citizen does?

I don't buy the "but their parent's brought them here, they didn't have a choice (in being here)" line.

Their parent's broke the law and get a great "rewards" program in return.

Perry stinks. No thanks.

Agree. he's officially off my list of possibilities after his "no heart" comment. He collapsed tonight, IMO.

Well I certain disagree on that. But I’d feel a lot better if Perry didn’t answer every question like he was having a brain aneurism.

“Perry is going to fade and when Palin jumps in, she will suck the life out of everyone but Romney; and Romney will have no chance against Palin.”

Palin isn’t going to run. Live with it.

I stand corrected on the affidavit. HB 1403 does require "provides to the institution an affidavit stating that the individual will file an application to become a permanent resident at the earliest opportunity the individual is eligible to do so."

This is meaningless. "eligible to do so" is so ambiguous to be unenforceable.

Here is what I learned tonight.
Michele is gone.
Perry will keep his promise to serve his full four years as Texas governor.
Cain is a lovely man with a plan that adds up to 27.
Newt should be knighted.
Santorum is half good and half still in the good old boy senate.
Huntsman is a prick.
Johnson has good comedic timing.
Paul is pro-life except wwhen he isn’t.
Romney has a very uncomfortable looking phony smile. He should change it immediately.

Perry is bad news. Fully agreed. Very much agreed. The photo with him at La Raza, pandering there and being in support of tax payer funded education for anchor babies of illegal aliens,, (this is a rerun of the so-called "compassionate conservatism" which is essentially "liberalism"), is the real deal killer re: Perry for me.

isn’t there something peculiar about a federal MANDATE to the states and localities that they must educate (medicate/house/feed) children of illegal aliens, K-12, but then that same body, the Congress, makes it illegal to offer those same students in-state tuition if that’s the state’s choice ??

Goood point! However, I am not sure the answer is federal mandating of college education either...

Whole system is a mess. Glad so many of the candidates wanted to abolish the US Dept. of Ed!!!

If he moves to TX for one year and establishes residency he does get in-state tuition. Illegals have to be residents for 3 years and graduate from a TX high school. Your nephew’s residency requirement is much easier to meet than that of the illegal TX residents.
