An international team of scientists has recorded neutrino particles traveling faster than the speed of light, a spokesman for the researchers said on Thursday -- in what could be a challenge to one of the fundamental rules of physics.

If confirmed, the discovery would overturn a key part of Albert Einstein's 1905 theory of special relativity, which says that nothing in the universe can travel faster than light.

Light is not really ‘pulled’ by gravite- it always travels in a straight line.

Space itself is warped by mass so the light travels within a warped space, which makes it look like it bends

If they somehow miscalculated the straight line distance between the CERN neutrino generation point and the detector by 18 meters, that would account for it.
The total distance is 730km.
It's possible they goofed, more likely than discovering FTL alas.

Old news. Schumer closes the distance to a television camera at a speed far in excess of that of light. Too bad Einstein died before the Schumer Effect was discovered - I’m sure he’d have invented a whole new physics to incorporate the phenomenon.

I will forward this to the person I work with, he is a top 10 brain in the world in computational electromagnetics and has a very deep understanding of theoretical physics; not particle physics but nevertheless, he is an IEEE Fellow ...

...but the “common timing signal” itself has a travel time which is limited by the speed of light. Thus, for something traveling faster than the speed of light the ‘common timing signal’ would not be ‘common’.

Not true. For instance, they could use a common oscillator and timing strobe (e.g., 1PPS) fed through equal lengths of fiber-optic cable and calibrate it by sending pulses of light between the two stations in both directions, to detect any bias. This is somewhat analogous to how GPS works.

Neutrios DON’T go faster than light! I bet that their their measurement error was that they did not use the distance from the starting point to the ending point THROUGH the earth! They used the distance between theose two points over the SURFACE of the earth, like is posted in atlases, and is given by GPS equipment, etc. You heard it here first! Another option is that ther neutrios went into a another dimension, and then out again, so they did not cover the actual distance in our space-time, similar to the matter teleportion in Star Trek. In that way, they had to travel a much shorter distance, and so still went under lightspeed.
