With both jobs and immigration likely topics of sharp debate at tonight's Republican debate here in Florida, a new report suggests that newly-arrived immigrants have filled a majority of new jobs created in Texas, home to Republican frontrunner Gov. Rick Perry.
"Of jobs created in Texas since 2007, 81 percent were taken by newly arrived immigrant workers (legal and illegal)," says the report from the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that advocates reduced levels of both legal and illegal immigration. The report estimates that about 40 percent of the new jobs were taken by illegal immigrants, while 40 percent were taken by legal immigrants. The vast majority of both groups, legal and illegal, were not American citizens.

explains why Perry won’t close the border.
I’m curious as to how they’re able to figure out this stuff? How do they find out whether a job went to an immigrant, legal or illegal or went to a u.s. citizen?
Exactly, my FRiend :/
Obama can't use that against him anyway because it points out his border failure.
PING
IMHO, Obama can’t use anything against any other ‘runners’... he is a TOTAL failure, just like we predicted he would be in 2008 :p
But, I am sure he has enough czars to attempt to quiet who he wants :p (or whomever is puppeteering him)
They don't give the specific formula used to determine what portion of the rest are illegals, they just describe it in vague terms. Somehow they settled on 50%.
I instinctively felt that Perry’s jobs numbers would prove to be inflated by the special “problems” particular to Texas, namely, high numbers of legal/illegal immigrants.
It explains in part two things: 1. His indistinguishable-from-Liberal stance on this issue, including benefits, tuition, etc. and 2. Why the Liberal opposition, soon to come out swingin’, won’t TOUCH this part of Perry’s record, let alone try to nail him on it, since it’s basically just what they would’ve done.
This is ironically one big way Perry can broaden his appeal,nation-wide,
to Hispanics, but it could quickly deflate once it becomes clear that it was considered a TEXAS solution, and not a national one.
So in your world, someone from say OK, LA, NM, AZ, CA, etc. is NON-American?!
Oh, by the way, the 81% number is completely bogus too.
probably the same way they figure out the bad CO2 from the good CO2
Silly not Obama, Mittins, Michells, and Rick are going to have him for lunch on FOX tonight.
Honestly, I am also going on instinct now, myself.. I have been outside of the USA for almost a decade and a half (I had Bush as a governor when I left the states..)
I am seeing and feeling what you just said.. and most of my information comes straight from here, FR..
I am in NO way against legal immigration (or other races.. at least half of my friends back in the states are from Mexican immigrants ..~notice I didn’t use the ‘hyphen’.. they all consider themselves Americans and oppose the same things we do)...
Got a feeling this is pure BS. On second thought it is. No way to support the data.
Romney supporter alert!
Gov Perry's ongoing suckups to illegals raise serious questions about his curious string of unbroken elections wins.
QUESTIONS PERRY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ANSWER
<><> Have you made deals with illegal aliens (1) to exchange campaign cash and votes for gratuities, (2) to use your office to get illegals US govt handouts?
<><> Did you promise illegals tax paid-free education, EITC, welfare, food stamps, UI, SS, SSI, healthcare, sub-prime mortgages, subsidized bank loans in exchange for votes?
<><> Do you know this is a felony?
<><> Do you know which identity illegals use to register to vote for you?
<><> Do you know illegals who qualify for Texas in-state tuition may also be eligible for state aid?
<><> Do you know that state aid to illegals is paid for by American citizens?
Lol.. I am no Mitt supporter:) just see my FR-page..
I honestly don’t know if it is BS.. I was just following the link from Drudge :p
They fiqure it due in part to catholic charities goes around the world selecting people to relocate here and they help them for 6 months with adjusting to new country and help them find work. Like Tyson Chicken, much of their work force is a direct result of catholic charities. After 6 months, catholic charities, moves on and allows whoever came here, are on their own and many end up on welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing. catholic charities than goes back around the world looking to bring more people here.Land of Milk and Honey.
Of course, if you offer any valid criticism, the Perrybots will be all over you calling you a Romneybot and worse.
As if our only choices are between the good hair RINO #1 and the good hair RINO #2.
Sorry, we played that game in 2008 and ended up with a candidate worse than either Prick or Mutt. I'm not playing it again.
Too bad their own calcuations and data in no way support their claim. This is a case of making an outrageous claim, throwing a lot of numbers and facts at it, and hoping people ignore the reality...
