*ping*
“The debates tonight will simply expose the emptiness of these two candidates.”
And here we are with no one who can beat Zero that has entered the race as of today.
Did Convergen file bankruptcy?
Didn’t think so. Nice try at a hit piece though.
Even though the idea that Perry and Romney are even remotely close in their policies and philosophies is absurd, I would still like to ask, who should a conservative support in the primary?
Rick Perry is a cross between Joe Isuzu and Elmer Gantry. I don't trust him as far as I could throw Chris Christie.
I just don't understand why folks will promote winning with a very questionable candidate vs. winning with a proven reformer. No one seemed to have a problem understanding what little bammy and the donks did with ObammyCare when THEY had the upper hand with majorities in both Houses and the Presidency.
The donks are so weak now unnamed generic "republican" candidates are besting little bammy. In such a winning environment why would one not want to win with a candidate that has a documented record of addressing the glaring problem... we need to clean house on BOTH sides of the isle which in many instances includes that very same gang of establishment GOP cronies.
Clean house on both side of the isle...
Let's see, who did that?
I agree and if Newt gets some questions, I think he may get a small boost. Contrary to what some are saying, this vetting is good. Now or later, but it is a given in politics.
Big deal. Tell me which state doesn’t have these development funds. By your logic, no former or current Governor in the US would qualify as a candidate for President because of perceived corruption. Baloney.
How's that just-winism workin’ out for ya? I think they (NWO) beat you at the game.
Wow, Perry has baggage, what a shock. /s I get that he is not perfect and some of this is troubling but come on, to compare this guy to Romney is just off. I mean, “RomneyCare” I just can’t get that out of my mind and just can’t let Romney off the hook for it PERIOD!!! In my mind RomneyCare moves Mitt into the “need not apply” category.
1. All accusations, no real proof, AND even the article says:
“While these insider practices are shady and unfair to others who were denied similar opportunities, none of this is illegal”
Trying to make Perry look guilty, because Obama’s shady practices — if Obama is guilty, so is Perry is beyond ridiculous, there is NO “moral equivalence” between Obama and Perry, which is what you are trying tocreate.
2. Are you working on starting a “Conservatives for Obama” group?
Let’s knock Perry out of the primary, make sure the conservative vote splits, let Romney be the GOP nominee, so Obama could get reelected. THIS is what “conservatives” are going to accomplish, if you keep up this Perry bashing. Is THAT what you really want?
Headline in 2012 after Obama gets reelected: “Obama’s reelections wouldn’t have been possible without Conservatives knocking out Perry in the primary.”
Who the hell is Bryan T. Carter? What other articles has he written, what is his background, why is American Thinker posting an article without giving the readers any background on the author?
The problem here for Perry, is that this is “business as usual” in Texas, so it was never a major campaign issue when he ran there, because the RATs would be the first ones to do this as well, and the people basically accepted this as normal. How this method of operating contrasts now with the national political climate (i.e. Palin and “Crony Capitalism”), is a political dynamic that has not even begun to play out (since she’s not even a candidate yet).
None of the current candidates can make this a successful campaign issue, because none of them has fought or taken-on this way of doing business in their political (or non-political) career.
Forget about Obama raising this as an issue. He’s the one who could write the text book on it.
If Palin does get in, then it could be for an interesting campaign, since it would be one of her main campaign points, and she’s got the track record and political scalps to prove it.
We sure have some dense FReepers. This is just garbage commentary. Perry is an excellent candidate.
You guys are like DUers on the left. You are so idealistic in your desires and you are probably not able to live up to half of what your preach and want in a candidate.
For "Brian T. Carter," there are no previous articles...on American Thinker or elsewhere.
“American Thinker” or “American Stinker”?
Convergen received help in circumventing the normal process. This part is very murky. Somehow, the proposal that failed the regional review was presented at the closed-door session of the state advisory panel (which previously included Nance), where it was approved. While the governor's office claimed that an appeal was filed, there is no appeals process in ETF's charter. The process by which Convergen received $4.5 million -- the highest amount ever awarded -- was "extraordinary."There is the possibility of a problematic pattern here. The Gardasil mandate through executive order would also be best described as unusual or extraordinary. In both cases, the people involved were connected to Perry.
Now, individually, one can say that each case may have been a correct decision, if not necessarily handled the "proper" way. But multiple "improper" decisions taken together mean something else entirely.
Once is a fluke. Twice is coincidence. But three or more make a pattern. If there are more stories like this, where well-connected folks got government perks through extraordinary means, then this is a major problem for Perry.
Perry looks worse by the hour. Romney has NEVER been conservative. Two progressive RINOs without a difference between them.
OK, you have won me over. I'm either not going to vote or I'm going for four more years of the Real Thing™
The Real Story:
There is just WAY too much Government at all levels playing Venture Capitalist with our money shoveling it at questionable start-up firms, all in the name of “creating jobs” (green or otherwise)
Thrombovision is Perry's Solyndra.
Amazing that we have our pick of shady business deals with this guy, eh? These are just the ones we know about. I can't imagine what the Dems will dig up if this guy gets the nomination somehow.
