Public opinion polls show most Republicans think otherwise, but former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said he hopes Sarah Palin joins the 2012 presidential fray.
I think it would be a good thing if she did, Mr. Romney said in an interview with USA Today. She would make the race that much more exciting, bring more people to watch the debates, and I hope she gets in.
What Mr. Romney didn’t mention is that Ms. Palin’s entry into the race could siphon support from Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Recent national public opinion polls that included the former Alaska governor often show her in third place behind Messrs. Perry and Romney. That would also give the contest another candidate who has attacked Mr. Perry on his 2007 executive order that required young girls to receive a vaccine against a sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer.
Some 72% of GOP primary voters said they do not want Ms. Palin to run in a McClatchy-Marist poll release this week.
In other Palin news, her political action committee has sent out a fund-raising letter that says the former governor is on the verge of making her decision...

I think McCain was in such a strong position after Super Tuesday that it sucked all the air out of the other campaigns. It wasn’t like Hillary versus Obama that slogged on well through the primary season.
It would be an historic election because 75% of the Republicans don’t want Palin to run, so if she does, then Obama would win with 80% of the vote, it would be historic I tell you, historic.
Meanwhile, back on the Planet Earth, here is a dose of reality:
The Undefeated (the 1969 movie) grossed $8 million in theaters. (Equivalent to $47 million in 2010 dollars.)
This year's foreign language film, "Sarah's Key", grossed $6.38 million in theaters
.
By stark contrast, The Undefeated (the Sarah Palin movie) grossed $116,381 in theaters. FIFTY EIGHT TIMES LESS THAN "SARAH'S KEY".
"Sarah Palin would be THE single largest vote-gathering machine going."
"When it comes out, the Sarah Palin movie, 'The Undefeated', will rival 'Citizen Kane" and 'Casablanca'."
Both of those claims were actually posted on FR.
Sarah Palin represents 13% of the GOP vote. Romney cannot get those votes because he is too liberal. He therefore wants those votes to go to a candidate that is absolutely no threat to him so that those votes will not end up on a more conservative candidate's column.
It's as simple as that.
I am sick of libs too and the way we are going, we are going to end up with Romney and lose the election to the Marxist again.
Who's Worried?
Some 72% of GOP primary voters said they do not want Ms. Palin to run
The way I phrased it yesterday was : “I have this feeling that we are going to get stuck with another crap sandwich and told to swallow it again, just like in 2008”
If Romney gets the nomination we would be better off with Obama again than him, as bad as that would be,
Romney is a termite, Obama the woodpecker, our country is the wooden house. At least you can see the woodpecker doing the damage.
All the candidates are going to have blemishes, but you get to pick your poison. Perry or Romney, if you want Perry you don't want Sarah in as I see it.
I think Sarah likes being out, being important like a kind maker and making boat loads of money while doing it all.
Why at this time would you run for President if you were her?
I think a joint ticket would be unbeatable, Perry/Palin more so than Palin/Perry but I'd take either one. I just don't think Palin will run.
Interesting, since her PAC has nothing to do with a presidential run, and you'd think that if she was seriously considering running, she wouldn't be sucking up her donor money into a PAC that she can't use for that run.
On the other hand, if you assume Palin DIDN'T say this, but her PAC did, then it's just her PAC using the excitement of her possible entry to raise more money for themselves.
Romney may be salivating over the possibility of Palin getting into the race, but he should be careful what he hopes for. On the other hand, he's got the other conservative candidates doing his bidding pretty well, and he only had to pay off one of them so far.
The “conservatives” are doing a great job of tearing down one another and handing the nomination to Romney. It’s so stupid and it’s sickening. Most of them on this board are attacking Perry thinking a saving bimbo who can’t make up her mind, will enter the race. I am not crazy about Perry -but compared to Romney, he’s conservative.
Michelle, the only one who stood a chance to beat Romney, cut of her nose to spite her face by acting unpresidential in the last debate.
We are screwing ourselves good. We don’t need the Rinos to lift a finger.
I wouldn’t mind a Perry/Palin ticket. I prefer Perry over Palin for several reasons that go deeper then this but the main one being....(I’m going to get creamed for this)....he’s a man. There, I said it out loud. :) Not only a man but a man with the backbone and courage to stand his ground and not backdown. He admits when he’s wrong but that does not detract from his strength. And that is what I see when I hear him express himself and his views, strength. I quite simply do not think America is ready for a female President. Let her work her way in as Vice-President and then I might change my mind. That being said, if on election day she has run and won the nomination I will vote for her as fast as I can.
In case anyone is wondering: I am a 26 year old FEMALE that loves her femininity. (On the other side of the coin, don’t challenge me on the baseball diamond because you-will-lose. My daddy taught me well. lol )
LOL. Well, I like your post and I completely agree with it and I'm a 65 year-old guy. If you and I are any indication, Perry has a very solid and very broad base! :)

I think you second point is more likely.
Here’s a copy of what purports to be the solicitation letter....
The letter says the money it recieves can be spent for any candidate! This signals Sarah’s more familiar role of campaigning for others.
“if you want Perry you don’t want Sarah in as I see it.”
I am not behind any candidate on an emotional level, if Sarah got in and was outpolling Perry, Romney and Obama, I’d have no trouble supporting her fo the nomination.
As yet I’ve seen no evidence that is what would happen. We are dealing with what IS, and that is Perry v Romney. I have no interest in seeing Mitt Romney win this nomination whatsoever, so I say for now, go Perry.
If Sarah gets in, I will look at the polls maybe after a month and re-evaluate if needed.
Or, she could team up with Perry and Romney is flat like a Wile E. Coyote cartoon. Or many other options. This isn’t binary choice.
Bullshit. She is not for sale. Who is YOUR candidate?
She also added that she is against ILLEGAL immigration and that non-citizens need to get in line and got through the legal process.
FYI, SarahPAC can be used for expenses and salaries preparing for a Presidential run, ads against the opposition (like other candidates have been running), etc.
Thanks for the info!
Every person on that stage tonight envies her position.
If, more likely when, she gets in, she will suck the energy and money from everyone else. Romney and Perry will still have their RINO supporters, but the big money behind them will stop giving once they realize Palin will win the nomination and the election in landslides.
