Public opinion polls show most Republicans think otherwise, but former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said he hopes Sarah Palin joins the 2012 presidential fray.
I think it would be a good thing if she did, Mr. Romney said in an interview with USA Today. She would make the race that much more exciting, bring more people to watch the debates, and I hope she gets in.
What Mr. Romney didn’t mention is that Ms. Palin’s entry into the race could siphon support from Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Recent national public opinion polls that included the former Alaska governor often show her in third place behind Messrs. Perry and Romney. That would also give the contest another candidate who has attacked Mr. Perry on his 2007 executive order that required young girls to receive a vaccine against a sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer.
Some 72% of GOP primary voters said they do not want Ms. Palin to run in a McClatchy-Marist poll release this week.
In other Palin news, her political action committee has sent out a fund-raising letter that says the former governor is on the verge of making her decision...

“Romney: Palin Candidacy Would Be a Good Thing”
Well of course it. For Mitt. She would suck up all the votes from the lesser conservatives, take some from Perry and, voila! Mitt Romney is you G.O.P. nominee, leading to 4 more years of Obama.
OR; she might be smart enough to see through the thinly veiled strategy by the NE uber-Rino and stay out of the race.
“OR; she might be smart enough to see through the thinly veiled strategy by the NE uber-Rino and stay out of the race.”
OR, she will look at the Perry polls and conclude we need a conservative that can win, and enter the race.
romney is a serious candidate only in his own mind. as you rightly point out he’s a NE uber-RINO. those of us in flyover country will never vote for him. Gov Palin will have no problem brushing him aside when she announces.
Or, your theory could total BS and she would walk away with the nomination and be the next POTUS. That’s my theory.
Is Mitt hoping that she can be his "little lady"? He needs to disabuse himself of that delusion asap.
Mitt's bluffing, he's being the moron we all know that he must be.
I learned long ago to be VERY careful what I wish for!! Seems like Romney is not so smart after all.
You say, “She would suck up all the votes from the lesser conservatives, take some from Perry ...”
I agree. If the final 2 on the GOP side are Palin and Romney, I daresay it will Palin’s way.
Personally, I have severe reservations about both Romney and Perry. Perhaps one of rhe other candidates will outshine them all tonight.
Maybe a good thing for liberal Myth Romney. LOL
If nothing else, a Palin candidacy would have instant impact on the primary process. It would push out the second tier wannbees and make this a three person race.
I still don't think she is running. Keep your eyes on Palin's employer, Fox News.
Seriously, what the heck else is he going to say? This is a boilerplate candidate response to such a question — “the more the merrier, and we’ll let the voters decide”.
Of course Romney wants Palin to join. Palin and Perry can fight over conservative voters, while Mittens gets to keep the RINO voters all to himself.
If both Palin and Perry are in the race, Romney will get the nomination.
Newt will probably do well as will Cain. I can’t see either winning any converts unless one of the front runners stumbles and they jump on him with both feet. Kind of a “there you go again” moment.
How is it that John McCain became our nominee in 2008?
So long as Fox News keeps paying her, she ain’t running.
If Gov. Palin enter the race,
the RINOs are split between backstabber Romney
and openborder Perry.
oh please. Palin has a very loyal base, far more diverse than you could imagine and she will draw in independent voters Perry and Romney could never dream of attaining. She is going to kick both their butts and by 2013, you will be referring to her as “Madame President.”
