It has nothing to do with the fact that Texans would elect a ham sandwich over a Democrat.


Seems to be a very low opinion of Texans.

No. A low opinion of Democrats. I’m just saying a Republican getting elected in Texas is not much to crow about.

Seems to reflect the election results that anyone with an "R" next to their name on the ballot wins statewide office in Texas, regardless of the quality of the individual candidate.

Perry is fortunate he's never had to run for office in a competitive two-party state and all his opponents in Texas were even lousier than he is. Rod Blagojevich managed to continually be re-elected in Illinois with 30% approval ratings due to the same factors (horrible opponents who were even less likable than him, and completely powerless opposition party that didn't even make a real effort)
