Romney dominates New Hampshire poll, well ahead of Perry (terrifying article for Conservatives)

The former Massachusetts governor now leads his nearest rival, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, by 27 points among likely New Hampshire voters, according to a Suffolk University-7News poll released Wednesday night. Perry finished far back, earning 8 percent compared with Romney's 41 percent. Paul took 14 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman received 10 percent to round out the top four finishers.

Suffolk is no Rasmussen, so though things will be close, I think we knew that already. I do accept the last statement.
“One poll is meaningless. One needs a series of good poll numbers to show you have made a connection..” We are being pummeled by Rick’s early sky rocket which was fun, but not a place holder and not even fair to him. This will be a slog. They always are. He knows it too.

Sounds like we're losing New Hampshire to the RINO class.

What did you expect?

New Hampshire IS in New England.

Romney comes from next door...and actually has a home in the state.

There is a strong libertarian wing in NH, boosting Paul.

That doesn't leave much room for anybody else.

NH is irrelevent, South Carolina is what matters. Whoever wins SC will win the nomination and the Presidency.

More proof that the same three states (Iowa, NH, SC) should not decide who is the nominee.

No disrespect to NH but NittWitt Mitt is an Obama mini meme.

He is not going to get the nomination.

For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would feel the New England states should be a bell weather for the nomination.

We are still a long way out at this point. I honestly would rather Perry stay as Governor of Texas. But he just might be the guy to actually cut the size of government in DC.

I despise stereotypes -- not because they aren't often true, but because they are often wrong about a few. I expected the stereotype of the intellectually and culturally pretentious Yankee to be proven wrong by Perry, or at least found to only exist among the Dims. I expected them to recognize the clear answer to our most pressing national problems when they heard it. Seriously disappointed here. I guess Rush can add NH to CA on the write-off states.

Romney has to be one of the least likable candidates I’ve ever seen. He comes off as a fast talking, soulless CEO type. He doesn’t seem like a leader.

I’m thinking fast-talking and soulless resonates in NH. It’s certainly the opposite of R Perry. Maybe Rick needs to buy a lakehouse there like Romney.

New Hampshire Republicans voted for John McCain...twice! In 2000 and 2008. He defeated Bush...and Romney.

That they're not voting for Perry but are voting for Romney should be no surprise.

I’d say Romney is dominant among Republicans throughout the Northeast—it’s just that NH is the only state that is early and really matters.

Seems to be a combination of 1) “most electable”, 2) most respectably educated and not “embarrassing”, and 3) socially “moderate”.

Then Romney has long had a summer home there and NH is in the MA`media market as well.

That list of 27 New Hampshire endorsements from today is directly from Rick Perry’s webpage.

Yes, for the most part I agree, but I feel he comes across as the owner of a company that he either inherited or took over from his father or some other family member.

I still believe he threw the MA Senate race to teddyboy - he had a somewhat ‘comfortable’ lead with a couple of weeks to go and ended up losing the Senate race - after he morphed into Ted - but, lo and behold, he ended up as Gov shortly thereafter....

Am I cynical. YES I AM, but I am confident of my analysis in this particular case.

Romney has been campaigning there for 4 years. Perry has only been out there a week or two. Relax, there’s plenty of time. Besides, everyone knows the dems vote in NH.

“RINO Republicanism” is alive and well, throughout the northeastern states down to Maryland and Delaware, throughout much of Illinois and Colorado, throughout much of the west coast states, and throughout all U.S. cities. This isn’t anything out of the ordinary or new. Conservatives, still, have lots of work to do, if they, really, want to make any significant, serious, and successful political gains in conservatism in the areas that I mentioned above. I wish I had all of the definitive answers to, successfully, changing “RINO Republicanism” to “conservative Republicanism”.

It’s, also, amazing how many people believe that the answer is, just, running “conservative Republicans”, instead of running “RINO Republicans”, at each and every political level, throughout every area where “RINO Republicanism” is alive and well. It’s not that simple of a solution, and that hasn’t worked out very well, most of the time it’s tried. “RINO Republicanism” is its own, separate political party, compared to “conservative Republicanism”, and there are many generations of voters whose minds are “stuck” on, either, “leftist for life”, or “RINO for life”, throughout all areas where “RINO Republicanism” still exists.-Conservatism, still, has serious, political inroads to make in these areas.
