Massachusetts Senate candidate and Wall Street "Enemy #1" Elizabeth Warren was caught on video last month decrying the GOP's charge that Democrats are engaging in "class warfare."
I hear all this, you know, Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever, Warren said. No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody.
She goes on to describe how the "social contract" helps everyone.
You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didnt have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.
Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea? God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.

No Elizabeth, you are the first to come along and try that...
They love this women on DU. They have a poll called “Who do you want to run for president in 2016?,” and Elizabeth Warren is the winner with 37% of the vote. Number 2 is Bernie Sanders with 18%.
Hillary was left out of the poll and barely mentioned in the comments. Most of the mentions are negative because Hillary is not Leftist enough or is too old.

If you go there, remember to shower after.
No wonder MSNBC loves her. I just thought Rachel had the hots for her.
Nor do they know that the taxes we all pay come from the jobs provided by the risk takers and the capitalists.
She’s too caught up in the cause to notice that since the unemployment rate has skyrocketed, revenues to the federal coffers have plunged.
Harvard Marxist.
No wonder the Republicans didnt want her being a regulator in Washington. phew!
village idiot
Amen! We should tax poverty so that it is not so lucrative. What is called "poverty" in this country would be at least upper middle class in the rest of the world.
Bump!
No. He graduated in 1991. She came in 1992-1993, I believe.
The notion of "intelligence" is grossly misguided. There are several forms of intelligence and this lady definitely lacks intelligence in many areas. In terms of common sense, she is a flaming moron.
Are those who just cant abide RINO Scott Brown cheering for this woman to replace him as senator from Massachusetts?

Yep, thank goodness he isn’t one of two less than excellent choices for President,ey?
You are right about the notion of intelligence - but before Obama appointed her and long before she decided to run - she was much more reasonable. I have seen her and Larry Kudlow have reasonable discussions where she was not at all this kind of knee jerk socialist.
Is there some mere factory owner that doesn’t take a hunk of his earnings and send it to the government to pay for the next kid, along with a gaggle of bureaucrats all claiming to speak in his name?
Declining to send DC money is a privilege reserved to Jeff Immelt and Fortune 500 CEO’s nuzzled up to Papa Obama’s government.
This woman is a debating champ. She, like the President, certainly knows how to flail at a straw man.
Maybe you’re listening, but Rush is playing clips from this woman and commenting. She makes Scott Brown look like Jim Demint.
I think slamming Scott Brown when this woman is a likely alternative is far beyond looking closely at positions presidential candidates have actually taken on issues, especially this early in the primary process.
People should be thankful for Brown because he is the best Republican likely to be elected from Massachusetts in the foreseeable future, and it’s no sure thing he will win reelection against a Dim candidate. The solution is to elect more conservative Republicans from states where that can be accomplished. Trashing Brown only helps the Dims.
That was magisterial.
Maybe he’ll take a cabinet position.
I totally agree Brown is the only real choice in this situation.
Was just commenting on the supposed choices we have for President and hoping that is not our only choices...Perry (moderate) or Romney (RINO). I would like another choice.
Hey, Liz.. What about the waste, fraud and abuse that ran up the debt?
Tax the producers, and it will just get passed on to the consumer.
"You stand in the midst of the greatest achievements of the greatest productive civilization and you wonder why it's crumbling around you, while you're damning its life-blood money. You look upon money as the savages did before you, and you wonder why the jungle is creeping back to the edge of your cities. Throughout men's history, money was always seized by looters of one brand or another, but whose method remained the same: to seize wealth by force and to keep the producers bound, demeaned, defamed, deprived of honor. That phrase about the evil of money, which you mouth with such righteous recklessness, comes from a time when wealth was produced by the labor of slaves slaves who repeated the motions once discovered by somebody's mind and left unimproved for centuries. So long as production was ruled by force, and wealth was obtained by conquest, there was little to conquer. Yet through all the centuries of stagnation and starvation, men exalted the looters, as aristocrats of the sword, as aristocrats of birth, as aristocrats of the bureau, and despised the producers, as slaves, as traders, as shopkeepers as industrialists.
"To the glory of mankind, there was, for the first and only time in history, a country of money and I have no higher, more reverent tribute to pay to America, for this means: a country of reason, justice, freedom, production, achievement. For the first time, man's mind and money were set free, and there were no fortunes-by-conquest, but only fortunes-by-work, and instead of swordsmen and slaves, there appeared the real maker of wealth, the greatest worker, the highest type of human being the self-made man the American industrialist.
"If you ask me to name the proudest distinction of Americans, I would choose because it contains all the others the fact that they were the people who created the phrase 'to make money'. No other language or nation had ever used these words before; men had always thought of wealth as a static quantity to be seized, begged, inherited, shared, looted, or obtained as a favor. Americans were the first to understand that wealth has to be created. The words 'to make money' hold the essence of human morality.
"Yet these were the words for which Americans were denounced by the rotted cultures of the looters' continents. Now the looters' credo has brought you to regard your proudest achievements as a hallmark of shame, your prosperity as guilt, your greatest men, the industrialists, as blackguards, and your magnificent factories as the product and property of muscular labor, the labor of whip-driven slaves, like the pyramids of Egypt. The rotter who simpers that he sees no difference between the power of the dollar and the power of the whip, ought to learn the difference on his own hide as, I think, he will.
"Until and unless you discover that money is the root of all good, you ask for your own destruction. When money ceases to be the tool by which men deal with one another, then men become the tools of men. Blood, whips and guns or dollars. Take your choice there is no other and your time is running out."
