Having tied the knot in a white wedding, a lesbian couple thought the icing on the cake would be a traditional honeymoon along with other young couples.
But the trip turned out to be a nightmare after staff at their resort treated them as if it was not a "real honeymoon" and excluded them from special romantic meals and dances.
Gemma Harman, 24, and Tamsin Harper, 36, said it was the "worst two weeks" of their lives and the "homophobic manner" in which they were treated was "disgusting".
The couple, from Brighouse, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, decided to go on the trip to a resort in Dominican Republic run by Thomson after their civil ceremony.
As it specialised in honeymoon couples and was run by a major tour operator they thought it would an ideal way to celebrate their union.
But they claim the company refused to acknowledge their holiday as a honeymoon and say they did not receive the special treatment offered to others because they were a same-sex couple. Ms Harman was so angry she contacted a local radio station to complain about "homophobic manner" in which they were treated.
The newly-weds claimed that other couples were treated "like VIPs", being offered special romantic meals at the hotel and having bottles of rum and fruit put in their room, but they received nothing.
When they tried to book a meal, it was never arranged and when they tried to complain, staff were "dismissive".
They were even excluded from a dancing competition because they were not a male and female pairing.
"They just did not treat us the same as everybody else," Ms Harman told Real Radio.

You spoke the magic word....DISORDER
As hard as the homo's try to normalize their disorder and perversion, as it once was the diagnosis for decades, the vast majority of people will not recognize it and only cow-tow to PC to maintain decorum and peace
At some point we will start pushing them back into the closet
Maybe the people at the dinner would have wanted to keep their food down.
“worst two weeks” of their lives
*************************
Oh give me a break! If it was— then they have more issues than how they were presumptively treated at a hotel. If it is THAT bad - leave - demand your money back. (but that would be less victim-ish, eh?)
I am so sick of the victim class, they are too self centered and too sensitive, everything is about how they perceive something.
I seriously think they won’t be happy until straight people aren’t allowed marriage. I’m all for it!
No more marriage recognized by gov’ts—ALL considered civil unions. Marriage belongs in the churches and it is between a man, woman and God.
Maybe they didn’t feel the same as the other couples because..... THEY WEREN’T the same. I didn’t read that anyone called them names or lobbed food at them.
This stuff is driving me batty and I think it is taking a toll on the kids, too. These people would suck the breath from every other person so that they may FEEL better.
They were probably in a paradise location, but because all they could do was obsess over not getting treated like a honeymoon couple they had a miserable time. It’s sad; if they had gotten over themselves they could have had a great time.
You’re right. I think that they should sue that company into bankruptcy for any perceived difference in treatment, regardless of fact or presentation of proof. What’s that expression? “Perception is reality”?
Once upon a time, long, long ago, a honeymoon was for couples to unite with one another, ostensibly for the first time. Male and female genitalia are constructed for union. How you achieve "union" with male/male or female/female genitalia? What were those women thinking? Highlighting female/female "union" at a honeymoon facility is not a good idea, IMO.
Welcome to reality, dear.
The pair, from Brighouse, West Yorkshire, paid Thomson £1,800 for the all-inclusive holiday in the Dominican Republic.

She added: ‘It was highly disappointing, there was just nothing that made it special, it was possibly the worst two weeks I've spent ever.’
Agreed. The company in question would be fools to cater to this minuscule group of potential customers.
Thanks for the photo of the (un)happy couple. I just tossed my dinner.
I suspect a lawsuit is in the offing.
Most of the 'third world' Caribbean do not tolerate gays. Religious leaning folk.
INSERT YEAR FOR HEADLINES the way we’re going.
incest couple treated disgracefully after they are married.
The couple were treated awful due ot the fact that the hotels did not look at their marriage as normal
Or
Bestiality couple treated badly on honeymoon
The hotel staff refused entry to the mans dog saying they did not expect this kind of marriage
or
child and man married but had horrible honeymoon .
Hotel staff reported the man who was later arrested. on his bail release he said the police were bigots and haters and could nto understand that in todays world people still carried this hate.
These people are freaks and I’m not sorry that she bought the strap on dildo where she could not use it and pretend she was a man.
FREAKS
they go to another country and then complain about how they were treated because they are mentally screwed up but then they go to a radio station.
Typical homosexuals, if all else fails run to the media looking for sympathy.
Don’t forget the financial incentive.
I think as a penalty the Dominican Republic should be denied an Obama Care waiver.
You may be on to something. Could it be that they were ostracized because they both had bad breath?
“They just did not treat us the same as everybody else,” Ms Harman told Real Radio.
Honey, you’re not the same as everyone else. Everyone else knows that a nut and a bolt join together and are strong. You believe that two nuts can do the same. You’re either stupid or confused, but regardless, you’re not the same as everybody else.
Maybe you need a package to get the package deal
