Life was simpler in the fictional town of Mayberry, N.C., where The Andy Griffith Show was set, and images of Sheriff Andy Taylor and his son Opie evoke a more prosperous America. But did the mystique of that setting include a 90 percent tax rate on the wealthy?
On MSNBC Wednesday, appearing from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., director and producer Ron Howard said he would be open to the wealthy paying more taxes.
There are several reforms that could be done.
The first one would be to eliminate withholding.
Make everyone write a check to the IRS every month, just like rent or mortgage payments.
or
Move tax day to Oct 31st (right before elections).
But seriously, I like the consumption tax (with the elimination of all other taxes of course).
Never met any of them, but Dopie’s real life brother seems like a good guy, though he plays a lot of odd characters.
Not the same percentage of anything; the same.
Homer Simpson: “Rock stars ... is there anything they don’t know?” That applies to Hollywood people as well.
A head tax does indeed have merit.
Is a rich man afforded any more freedom under the law than a poor man?
No, I say.
Lefties argue, though, that the rich man has more to be protected by the government than the poor man, so should pay more.
i don’t follow you, please explain how to do this?
bkmk
Dear Opie,
Please explain to me how the government taking more money from John is an improvement for Jane....
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
****ing communist fag... FUopie!

Hollywood kid. They are all brain dead. Even Andy was shilling for Obamacare.
I just want to give them what they think they want... I want to hurt these leftist bastards in the wallet.

I really resent people, Ron Warren, who, once they are wealthy beyond any foreseeable need, say tax the rich, by which they mean, prevent those who want to be rich like me from getting here. I dont want to have to compete with them for resources.
If I had it, Id be dumping Berkshire Hathaway. Mr. BH has taken his eye off the prize and his recent performance shows it. The old man has gone dotty.

“How about taxing EVERYONE at same rate, say 18% no deductions and no tax credits, just 18% of your income...and one other thing, no weekly payment to the taxman, payment due from you by April 15.”
Although I prefer the FairTax, I would buy in to your proposal with one MAJOR change. I would change the payment required date for the tax bill to be the first Monday of every November.
A baseball cap tax would change his mind.... not....
Poor Opie, and Andy went of the deep end a couple years ago. Where do you think Helen Crump or Aunt Bea are?
Tax the Hollyweird liberals on wealth, they’ll scream like a pig.
Probably the same qualifications you and I have, we all read, discuss and vote. What I don't get is why aren't the super rich, after being asked if they should pay more in taxes and have answered in the affirmative, asked if they ever send in more money than what the IRS requires to fund the US government?
