Sharp: Perry Will Win GOP Nomination (Faced Perry In 1998 Lieutenant Governor Race)

SAN ANTONIO -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry remains one of the front-runners for the Republican Presidential Nomination, and depending on who you ask, many think he'll get it.

John Sharp, the recently confirmed Chancellor of Texas A&M University who ran against Perry in the 1998 general election for Lieutenant Governor, gave his take on the race while visiting Texas A&M- San Antonio on Tuesday.

"It's a full time deal running against Rick Perry, and anybody who sells him short is an idiot, because it will be a tough campaign," Sharp said.

Sharp has known Perry since his college days, where the two served in the same outfit in the Corp Cadets. "We were really good friends until we ran against each other," Sharp said.

Sharp, a Democrat, lost to Perry with 48% of the vote, during the 1998 election. During that race, the polls were tied as voters got ready to cast their ballots. Then came the flood of 1998.

"In October of 1998 or late September, this huge flood came through the area, from San Marcos and down to Victoria," Sharp said. "That was my old senate district, (I'm from Victoria) and so I'm trying to get people to get out and vote, and they're out in boat, trying to rescue their furniture and things like that."

Sharp says his loss was partly due to Perry's good timing and good luck, and believes Perry will win the Republican nomination, but stopped short of saying he will be the next president.

We just as swiftly meet your propaganda and shilling for your candidate with facts and yet you still continue on... Methinks your visceral, lusty attraction for the physical (as evidenced by your embarrassing statement in a prior post upthread) to have overwhelmed your sense of proportion and reality. I would call it Slick Willarditis, as evidenced with a minority of FReeper women (and men) going back to 2006/7, when they allowed their romantic delusions that should be exclusive to their boudoir to thoroughly delude themselves. This same cult of personality was and is also seen with the Zero supporters. Quite disturbing, indeed.

It was that, or a projectile barf gif. Since many folks are getting up for breakfast, I decided to spare them two demonstrations of how to disgorge the contents of their stomachs. Your one was bad enough.

Palin won't declare on account of being afraid she might be asked really tough questions such as "what do you read?"

There is only one train headed to the White House, and that is the Rick Perry Express. All aboard!

I am not on the Perry train - but I must say, your attacks against the OP and on Perry are over the top, emotional, mindless and extremely light on the substance.

There is a visceral hatred of Perry on your part that really removes your comments from any serious intellectual assessment. And that’s a shame, because you may have buried some legit points under your barrage of hatred and your mindless and inaccurate use of the word RINO.

Backing a candidate and promoting him is not propaganda. Backing a non candidate by posting lies about a running candidate,in order to drag him down so your candidate, who is not running can somehow reap the benefits is more along the lines of propaganda. Other examples are 2 hour movies like “Undefeated” and your candidate actually has the benefit of acting like an honest broker as a paid commentator for Fox where she spend that time bashing the Republican field, namely Perry.

Any team that loses in the first round of the playoffs wants to be vindicated by seeing the winner go on to win it all.

Politics ain’t beanbag, brother. I’m here to take down any and all non-Conservative phonies who think they are owed or should be coronated with the Presidential nomination (or lesser office as the case may be). 2012 is key and we can’t screw it up like last time when there were no Conservative “First Tier” candidates. Now is not the time for timidity, and I brook no bullcrap from the bots. You may not like my style, but I’ve got the credibility on this website for spotting those that would do enormous harm to the Conservative movement and this country, and I’ve risked my account in shining the light of truth even when overwhelmingly opposed.

"Backing a candidate and promoting him is not propaganda."

When you are consistently shilling and flacking for a candidate and posting debunked myths/falsehoods and revisionist history (or outright lies), that most certainly is propaganda.
