A chilling look inside the minds of female prisoners unfolds on Thursday with the première of the new TLC show, Prison Diaries.
The first episode of the series focuses on Emilia Carr, one of just 63 women on death row in the U.S.
Carr is seen in ankle chains and handcuffs, led by a burly, fully-armed female guard as she leaves her cell. She wears bright orange overalls and trainers, her long, dark hair allowed to fall around her hunched shoulders.

So am I supposed feel sorry for these women. Daily Mail I think is trying that angle for the story. Prison isn’t supposed to be nice.
FRY Emilia!!!
To bad. You are death for a reason.
Gee, “fully armed” guards for convicted murderers. Well, what will they think of next - waiters for Charlie Manson’s meals?
Oh the horror of it!
You know, the Guardian, they’re British. FOPS!!
I never watch TV, so I’m not a good judge of this. But I can’t imagine why one earth anyone would want to watch a show like this.
To quote Heinlein:
I had no sympathy for him and still haven’t. That old saw about “to understand all is to forgive all” is a lot of tripe. Some things, the more you understand them, the more you loathe them. My sympathy is reserved for Barbara Anne Enthwaite whom I had never met, and for her parents, who would never again see their little girl.
Worthless British judicial system forces citizens to depend on baseball bats for self defense. After a few years of Shari Law, what will these self righteous pugs say then?
Women and minorities hardest hit.
The thing with the Brits, is taht they never want to get their hands dirty at all. They always want someone else to do it for them.

Death Row isn’t very pleasant, and that’s a fact.
It would be really good for a modern ‘scared straight’ program.
I sincerely think that it would be good to show to juvenile delinquents as a method to put them on the right path; forcing them to watch the pre-execution procedure would be an even better one.
Those self-righteous pugs won’t even be alive to say anything.
I think that the initial slice across the throat pretty much renders one speechless for the duration of their beheading.

Except for the gasps, gags, and gurgles from the severed windpipe and esophagus. These noises continue at least until the spine is severed.
Music in the ears of Mahometans.
My mother used to say "Obey the law, or you'll go to prison and be raped."
Carr is a rare case from what I’ve read (several articles with varying slants). Nothing I’ve read makes her seem as bad as the average murderer, and she is clearly nowhere near as evil as the average murderer who gets death row. I still think execution is the right answer, since she confessed to a brutal murder of her boyfriend’s ex-whatever, but for once I’m not shocked that some people object to her sentence.
It shouldn’t be. I’m glad they’re locked up 23 hours a day. Gives them time to think about what they’ve done. No pity here.
