In early Obama White House, female staffers felt frozen out
Washington Post ^ | September 20, 2011 | Peter Wallsten and Anne E. Kornblut

Friction about the roles of women in the Obama White House grew so intense during the first two years of the president’s tenure that he was forced to take steps to reassure senior women on his staff that he valued their presence and their input.

At a dinner in November 2009, several senior female aides complained directly to the president that men enjoyed greater access to him and often muscled them out of key policy discussions.

Those tensions prompted Obama, urged on by senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, to elevate more women into senior White House positions, recognize them more during staff meetings and increase the female presence in the upper ranks of the reelection campaign. “There were some issues early on with women feeling as though they hadn’t figured out what their role was going to be on the senior team at the White House,” Jarrett said in an interview Monday. “Most of the women hadn’t worked on the campaign, and so they didn’t have a personal relationship with the president.”

The women’s-inclusion issue in the Obama White House is featured prominently in a controversial new book to be released Tuesday, “Confidence Men: Wall Street, Washington and the Education of a President,” by journalist Ron Suskind.

The book, based on more than 700 hours of interviews, including one with Obama, quotes a number of top officials describing a difficult work environment at the time for women, due largely to the dominating roles of male officials such...

--snip--

One of the most striking quotes in the book came from former White House communications director Anita Dunn , who was quoted as saying that, “this place would be in court for a hostile workplace. . . . Because it actually fit all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace to women.”...

She's been trying to deny saying this, but....oops! Her interview was taped. LOL.

Is this a genuine complaint? Or the usual Liberal carping we’ve come to know and love so well?

This is 100% typical of every communist movement that has ever existed. Lots of talk about liberating women,,then treat em like crap once in power. Soviets, Pol Pot, the VC, Mao, hugo, Fidel and Che’,, Bill Ayers and weather underground, the Sandinistas, the Norks.

Add in the muslim influence and it makes even more sense.

I don't understand the problem.

These women choose to work for a Muslim whose "holy" book tells him that the majority of people in hell will be women and whose culture forces women to walk around under blankets and be married off to adult men at the age of seven and then are surprised when they are marginalized and shut out of everything but housekeeper scheduling duties?

It's very difficult if not impossible to take these women seriously. What did they expect?

Marx believed the woman should be used to work and breed, and the men should stay home and have sex with each other, and young boys if they chose.
They've made a lot of progress over the years.

Actually they seldom wait until they are in power to abuse women. The stories of mistreatment and disrespect for women among the leaders of so-called revolutionaries are legion.

As much as it pains me to say this, maybe this is the one criticism of 0bama does not deserve. I hate it when women say “That man makes me fee uncomfortable, therefore I am a victim of discrimination.” It is ok to tell a man that his work stinks, but if you say the same thing to a woman you are in trouble. What really bothers me is women in the workplace who say things like “Goddamn men, I hate men”, then in the next breath they say “Will one of you gentlemen lift this heavy box for me.”

It could be something else.

Notice how Michelle usually walks behind The Won. Observe how she often flies on a separate plane.

Plus, how he is reported to treat female staffers.

Just maybe, he's a practicing Muslim.

I would think that working around the nobamas one would experience their demeaning, condescending manner quite often...male or female.

I wouldn’t complain all that loud if I were them. It’ll be burqua’s next week.

At least they don’t have to ululate when Baraq walks by.

Why Not? Obama favors men both in working in the White House and after wirk extracurricular activities. if you catch my “Man’s Country” drift.

Aren’t these among the allegations that Geithner has claimed are false because he actually lived through the reality of it?

That poses a really difficult dilemma for a detached observer, namely, trying to figure out which members of the Obama administration are lying. They certainly can’t all be telling the truth, because their stories contradict each other.

The most plausible answer is that all of them are lying, in one way or another (fish rotting from the head and all)...
