Perry has a solid conservative executive governing record in Texas that beats every major candidate the GOP has come up with for the last 23 years! I agree with you, Perry's immigration record sucks, but it doesn't suck as bad as you're portraying it. Perry is the Governor Texas. Its a border state. A tough nut to crack.
Ahhh... I've had enough for now. If Romney is the GOP there will be a third party challenge and that means, Obama will be reelected.
We'll see, the more I read, the less I like.
Michelle Malkin lives here in the Springs. I’ve met her several times. Nice lady. Most of the time she is dead on correct. The question for Michelle is: if the choice is between Romney or Perry, who would she vote for? If she says Romney, she is dead wrong.
I don't think that's a recipe for enhancement with conservatives though, I'm not as bad as Romney.........
Like I said I can’t comment on the ‘last name’ remark. I’ll try to find that segment of the debate. Here is something else he has said in the past:

Okay. Name one major candidate that has run for the nomination over the last 23 years that has a better "conservative executive governing record" then Rick Perry.
It ain't Willard. Unless you're a liberal or a moderate GOP'er, RomneyCare disqualiifes him from any considertion from the get-go. So who? GHWB? Bob Dole? Dubya? McCain? Maybe Huckabee? Think about it.
I say, none, zero, zippo! For the last 23 years the GOP has nominated moderates, at best. Romney would be the most liberal of the entire bunch going back to 1988.
No, that's not the question. It's not even a question at this point, but a need for the voters to understand Perry's record on immigration. Whatever it is, or whatever any other candidate's might be, it will not be as bad as Obama.
But it is important for Republican candidates stands on this issue, and how a candidate would work with what should be a Republican majority in both houses of Congress. W tried every trick in the book to avoid complying with the Secure Fence Act. Would Perry do the same? Voters need to know.
(And I think the Secure Fence Act is probably still an active law, though not complied with.)
To even suggest that Romney would be better than Perry is a fallacy on every level. Lets not go there.
This is all about the good, the bad and the ugly... Perry, Romney, Obama. If this goes to a thrid party scenario, Obama will win.
Republican voters need to know what they are voting for on the major issues, and especially immigration as it is one candidates will double talk on until pinned down.
Bush and Rove did huge damage to the party trying to ram amnesty down the throats of a party and nation didn’t want it. They trashed the Republican majorities and paved the way for Pelosi and Obama.
As has been pointed out often, Rudy was still in the lead during September of 2007 and Fred was the great hope of many.
Apparently you do not know much about the group La Raza. They advocate taking back the western part of America through any means!
He is speaking for this Texan and my family. We voted for Perry fir governor only because of the competition. He would be terrible for president. He is just a placeholder kind of guy. Like Ford was for President.
The field right now has Perry ascending. Sadly, so is Romney. While the others are descending. In 2007 Fred and Rudy peaked and then ran out steam and money. McCain became the establishment candidate by default. There is no Huckabee this time.
Again. If its Romney v Perry, who will you support? Just asking.

I don’t accept your premises about 2012. It’s early and we still don’t know what Palin might do, or not do. And there is still plenty of time for some candidates to implode and others to gain support.
But illegal immigration and amnesty are the biggest issues in this race. If nothing is done to secure the border and amnesty is given by law or by default, then a long term Democrat majority will have been ushered in. Then we’d have the old or a new version of Obamacare and no hope of repealing it, plus a lot more equally bad leftist legislation.

The vast majority of conservatives and most Americans, see the economy and policies for job creation as the major issues right now. Immigration has become a lesser issue because of the bad economy, but will be a prime issue for many GOP primary voters. The general election will NOT turn on the immigration issue.
I think it’d be better to ask Obama ‘bout those borders...this is getting rather stupid...ask him when he is president...Texans have spent in just the last couple of years...400 million tax dollars on the borders and Perry has billed the feds for the money spent.
That doesn't mean it's not the biggest issue in the election, and the one will that will have the longest term impact on the nation and the Republican party.

Actually, I don't want to ask him then, I want to know what his record has been so I can decide if I want to support him.
Correction, that was my stance a month ago, having seen his record I simply don't want him to be our candidate. He has dropped from second in my esteem to second to last (just ahead of Romney) having examined his record rather than just his sound bites.
