Perry to slam Obama on Israel

Wading into a tense foreign policy dispute, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry is criticizing the Palestinian Authority's effort to seek a formal recognition of statehood by the U.N. General Assembly.

In a speech scheduled in New York on Tuesday, Perry pledges strong support for Israel and criticizes President Barack Obama for demanding concessions from the Jewish state that Perry says emboldened the Palestinians to seek recognition by the U.N.

An aide to the Texas governor provided excerpts of the speech to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

"We are indignant that certain Middle Eastern leaders have discarded the principle of direct negotiations between the sovereign nation of Israel and the Palestinian leadership," Perry said. "And we are equally indignant that the Obama administration's Middle East policy of appeasement has encouraged such an ominous act of bad faith."

The U.S. has promised a veto in the Security Council, but the Palestinians can press for a more limited recognition of statehood before the full -- and much more supportive -- General Assembly.....

Obama has been criticized by Republicans and many pro-Israel activists for seeming to push the Jewish state harder than the Palestinians to make compromises to achieve peace. Among other things, Obama has called on Israel to cease building housing settlements in the West Bank and to negotiate the scope of the Palestinian state using 1967 borders as a starting point -- a diplomatic position the U.S. has long maintained but one that has never before been explicitly embraced by a U.S. president.

....."It's vitally important for America to preserve alliances with leaders who seek to preserve peace and stability in the region," Perry said. "But today, neither adversaries nor allies know where America stands. Our muddle of a foreign policy has created great uncertainty in the midst of the Arab Spring."

June 2011: …………"David Ainsman really began to get worried about President Barack Obama’s standing with his fellow Jewish Democrats when a recent dinner with his wife and two other couples — all Obama voters in 2008 — nearly turned into a screaming match.

Ainsman, a prominent Democratic lawyer and Pittsburgh Jewish community leader, was trying to explain that Obama had just been offering Israel a bit of “tough love” in his May 19 speech on the Arab Spring. His friends disagreed — to say the least.....

“When Obama was running, there was a lot of concern among the guys in my group at shul, who are all late-30s to mid-40s, who I hang out with and daven with and go to dinner with, about Obama,” recalled Scott Matasar, a Cleveland lawyer who’s active in Jewish organizations.

Matasar remembers his friends’ worries over whether Obama was “going to be OK for Israel.” But then Obama met with the community’s leaders during a swing through Cleveland in the primary, and the rabbi at the denominationally conservative synagogue Matasar attends — “a real ardent Zionist and Israel defender” — came back to synagogue convinced.

“That put a lot of my concerns to rest for my friends who are very much Israel hawks but who, like me, aren’t one-issue voters.”

Now...he’s appalled by Obama’s “rookie mistakes and bumbling”......He’s the most pro-Obama member of his social circle but is finding the president harder to defend........

A Philadelphia Democrat and pro-Israel activist, Joe Wolfson, recalled a similar progression.

“What got me past Obama in the recent election was Dennis Ross — I heard him speak in Philadelphia and I had many of my concerns allayed,” Wolfson said. “Now, I think I’m like many pro-Israel Democrats now who are looking to see whether we can vote Republican.”.............. -- Jewish Dems losing faith in Obama

How Rick Perry helped stop the Gaza 'freedom flotillas' ….>>>>"I once spoke at a mission that Perry took part in, in Israel," Darshan-Leitner recently told Commentary's Alana Goodman. "And he approached me and said, 'I love what you do. It's amazing what you do. If you ever need help combating Israel's enemies, I'm here to assist.' "

Perry made good on that promise in July, when a cohort of liberal activists boarded a Gaza-bound aid boat with the goal of breaching Israel's maritime blockade of the Gaza strip.<<<…………..

Now...(Matasar) he's appalled by Obama’s
“rookie mistakes and bumbling”.

When a moslem jabs his finger into the chest of
a Jewish leader, its neither a rookie mistake nor
bumbling.

In mixed company, I can not even speak what
my thoughts are when I see this photograph. The
only safe words that come to mind are approximately,
PUNK and THUG.

Barack Obama left a meeting with Prime Minister Nethanyahu (at the White House) to go eat his dinner, leaving the PM behind and telling him he’d be back later to see if they’d gotten anywhere.

The man is a bully, a community organizer, a hate baiter and it will not be a sad day when he is voted out of the White House.

Just like the Dali Lama had to leave by the back door while China’s leader gets a state dinner (in a White House where Winston Churchill’s bust was removed from the Oval Office by Barack Obama and sent back to England).

I could go on but I’m sick to my stomach thinking about the disgraceful way Barack Obama has behaved.
