You can't reinvent the burger; you can remake it NEW YORK (AP) — When Wendy's decided to remake its 42-year-old hamburger, the chain agonized over every detail. A pickle chemist was consulted. Customers were quizzed on their lettuce knowledge. And executives went on a cross-country burger-eating tour. [snip]

DQ is who bought our local one out.
No more chocolate malts, no more steak sangwichs, no more car shows. :(

I hope they make a better burger rather than reinventing themselves by selling oatmeal like McDonald.

Are they still selling that crappy oatmeal at McDonalds? I had coupons for free oatmeal there so I tried one. It was horrible. So horrible that I thought I might have had a freak bowl so I used another coupon to get another free oatmeal. It wasn't a freak bowl. The second oatmeal was as bad as the first.

The absolute BEST Burgers in the world are Tommy’s Burgers in the L.A. area.

Dang! I feel like a heathen!

I usually get the small double cheeseburgers on the value meal. Around here, that is typically $1.25/burger. I get 2 & drink my own Diet Coke brought from home. On my way for $2.50 + about 30 cents for the Coke.

I don’t ask them what kind of burger is it, if it is Angus or Martian. I don’t ask what kind of cheese (or should I write “cheeze”?)

Two mystery meats covered in yellow slime with something red on top, washed down with a mixture of chemicals and acids - mmmmm, mmmmm, good!

The McDonald double, off the value menu is what I get when I have to drive and eat.
It not great, but its not bad, and you can eat it while you drive.
I’ve always got a bottle of water. So McDonald can keep his Coke.

They were my favorite for 20 years (my sister lives in Las Vegas; used to eat there three times a week on vacation) but to me, 5 Guys is a cut above. They're more expensive than In-N-Out though.

“They’re more expensive than In-N-Out though.”

Get what you pay for???? A couple of Double Doubles and a malt sure hits the spot though..... I’ve been in Norcal since before In n Out expanded in this direction.....when they showed up we all hollared and whooped......(grew up in the next city over from In n Out headquarters in Socal)

Ever see a In n Out that didn’t have a 1-2 block line at the takeout window and a packed dinning room?.......good thing they move FAST! Especially since they cook each burger to order. Not a heating lamp in the place......fries come right out of the frier, burgers fly off the grill...

Another thing I have always liked about In’N’Out is they train their staff to be courteous, smile and always helpful. The young people working there look like they enjoy their jobs.

My local Wendy’s can defeat the best minds in the burger business... They cook everything waaaaay ahead of time - the lack of freshness makes the best sandwiches taste dreadful. If they want more business they need to monitor lazy cooks...

They don’t have any locations in northern California. The Wikipedia article says, “A ladle or two of Koulax’ signature chili tops nearly every available menu item.” I’m thinking they don’t serve fried pies.

They’re heading your way. They already have or are building around 80 stores in California.
