Everyone tell the spouse and kids that you don't want a new tie, pair of socks or new shirt for Christmas or your birthday. If we had a Republican president and were in this fix, the Dims would be throwing rocks and rioting every weekend. As it is, they haven’t been up for making Obama look bad...until lately.
The principal difference is that rioters in Europe know perfectly well that nothing is going to happen to them and that no matter what they wreck during the tantrum their government will replace it for them, gratis. In America the only places that assurance holds is within cities already committed to the support of the welfare class; elsewhere, they're likely to be shot and will not receive the customary European media lionization and orgy of recrimination against the middle class. Not here. No sympathy.

On another thread earlier, someone here made the suggestion that next summer will be the time when things get ugly, when it becomes apparent that Obama cannot be reelected and the Democrats launch a scorched earth hate campaign against the Tea Party. I hate to think like that but look what is going on right now, and it isn’t hard to see that we are on the edge of riots once again. When the food stamp crowd finds out the money is really gone there’s no telling what they will pull.
I’m from the country, and I like it that way.
This is a professional group and an expensive hotel. The entire group appears to be quite well off and from the conversation, they are all (in some way) in the redistribution of wealth business. As I enjoy my beer, I wonder what will happen when they no longer have wealth to redistribute ...
