President Barack Obama's administration proposed a $100 per-flight fee on corporate jets and other turbine-powered planes that use the U.S. air-traffic system.
The fee would raise an estimated $11 billion over 10 years, according to the president's recommendations to the 12-member congressional committee charged with finding ways to trim the deficit. The fee is aimed at private aircraft, which currently don't pay their fair share of costs of operating the aviation system, the administration said today.

Hugo Chavez would be proud of Barky.
That’s $11Bl if no one changes their behavior... but of course, who ever takes THAT into consideration?
That’s so assinine!!
So does this translate to all general aviation?
I have a perfectly good government here in Texas. They mostly leave me alone and do arcane things with Texas laws about sueing folks. But we only let the legislature meet for a few months every other year.
Please, don't help me anymore, and go away.

Why don’t we privatize the air traffic control system and get the government out of the operation. It’s been done in some countries with success, such as in Canada.
Jack
I’ve heard of toll bridges, but toll airways?
How one figures what the fair share should be, is not clear. It would seem that small planes should be individually dinged less than large ones, just like a pickup truck will wear a highway less than a semi truck and should pay less in road taxes. And would operators of large planes see some tax relief?
That's a fact, Jack. We just don't need a Feral Gooberment. And seriously, it's becoming quite a pain in the ass.
Those gomers need to go.

He’ll go after tail-draggers next.
There's that phrase again. Bet we hear that a lot over the next year....
Obama’s goal: punish anyone who tries to avoid TSA groping.
What an idiot.
I don’t think that the $100/flight fee is going to fly.
FUBO.
That filthy SOB is trying to jack up my business costs.
FUBO.
How will Barry the Imposter’s golf buddies like this fee???
Hollywood & politicians gets waivers...right?
Okay, well.... It already costs $3,600 to $10,000 round trip, Las Vegas to San Francisco, depending on the carrier.
Whatever.
How about an Obama tax on sloth? ;-)
