Wisconsin education officials have ordered a high school to change its sports nickname from the Indians.
An alumnus of Berlin High School north of Milwaukee complained to the state Department of Public Instruction about the use of the nickname. That opened the door to the state ordering the school to change it.

Of course it’s not disrespectful. And of course money plays a part. I’ve seen games in Tallahassee - and the atmosphere (at night) is great. The tomahawk chop is part of that atmosphere.

The word `Indian` should be used with impunity because it has nothing to do with the real names of indigenous American peoples.
It is the people of India who should be asking for royalties for using the name `Indians`-
