Had he just stick to one thing, increase the tax rates for the super rich, he would put the House Republicans in defensive: increase the tax or be portrayed as siding with the super rich. I see the figure $1.5 trillion mentioned but only $800 billion specified, a revenue increase he hopes to realize by allowing the Bush-era tax rates to increase. Not only is that an entirely unsupported figure, but we're some $700 billion short here even if it happens, which it won't. The author desperately throws out the distraction of spending cuts, but spending cuts are not revenue increases. Where is the rest of it coming from?
