Buy larger wallets, so you can bring enough cash for a loaf of bread.

Boy king has a "raise taxes on the rich" real obsession as does his party. The entire RAT party desperately needs some mental health advice for this OCD.

Newt nailed it. We should increase tax revenue by reducing tax rates (see Laffer curve).

Then eliminate capital gains tax, and the economy would take off like a rocket. We’d pay down the debt and work our way out of this mess in a short time.

...and have more jobs and spending money to boot.

Reaganomics is recent history. How come we can’t remember anything?

0bama overplays his card by throwing in other stuff that he thinks would sweeten his proposal and also appease . Had he just stick to one thing, increase the tax rates for the super rich, he would put the House Republicans in defensive: increase the tax or be portrayed as siding with the super rich. Thanks God, they are greedy.

"Announces revenues"? What nonsense is this? He can't announce revenues, he has no idea what those revenues will be. He is changing tax rate, not revenue, and any revenue figures he comes up with out of that are estimations, only good if people don't react to a change in tax rate with a change in behavior. Which they always do - that's the very basis of social engineering through taxation, after all. Ceteris paribus will kill you.

I see the figure $1.5 trillion mentioned but only $800 billion specified, a revenue increase he hopes to realize by allowing the Bush-era tax rates to increase. Not only is that an entirely unsupported figure, but we're some $700 billion short here even if it happens, which it won't. The author desperately throws out the distraction of spending cuts, but spending cuts are not revenue increases. Where is the rest of it coming from?

This one's dead on arrival.

If he included plans to cut spending, I might believe this is aimed at the deficit, but ultimately, I think we all know he’s just looking for more bribery money ahead of the 2012 election.

Just what the struggling economy needs right now, more candy for the give-away machine in DC.

This will do nothing for the economy because the Congress will only go out and spend that much more, not to mention how it will kill investment and the jobs that would come from it.

Marxism doesn’t work.

This dumbass was never taught HOW to think- only WHAT to think.

He has one solution for ever problem- more government.

If his handlers know he is not going to win election they may go all out NOW while he is still in power.

This will be good for us [as long as we can stop any of it from passing] because people do not want what he is selling, so he will lose even bigger- unless they get desperate and declare martial law or something.

SOMEBODY PRIMARY JOHN BOEHNER!!!!!! OR AT LEAST CHALLENGE HIM FOR SPEAKER SEAT.

and savings of $1 trillion from the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan

This is the THIRD time he's used the money "saved" from these wars. It's already been spent twice before! Obomacare and the stimulus. How many times is he going to rehash this crap? What's he going to do, take a pair of scissors and cut the dollars into thirds?

Republicans are wrong when they refer to Democrat policy as "tax and spend," it's obviously "spend and tax." The interesting thing about that observation is that it betrays how both parties see the world through a subjective lens of self-interest. "Republicans" (aka the GOP leadership) quite apparently care more about taxes than spending, as we've seen. The reason is simple: Selling lower taxes is where their money comes from, while the Democrats are selling the power with which to grant favors.

Higher Taxes Won’t Reduce the Deficit

History shows that when Congress gets more revenue, the pols spend it.

The grand bargain so many in Washington yearn for—tax increases coupled with spending cuts—is a fool’s errand. Our research confirms what the late economist Milton Friedman said of Congress many years ago: “Politicians will always spend every penny of tax raised and whatever else they can get away with.”

$1.5 trillion in new, additional taxes...the more they take, the more they waste.
