The Japan Security Watch blog has published images of the Kawasaki XP-1 maritime patrol aircraft conducting flight tests with two Type-91 anti-ship missiles on its inboard missile pylons. The two outboard pylons, between engines 1-2 and 3-4, are empty in the photos.
Japan currently has two aircraft for flight tests and two for ground tests. In August we reported that the ground testing aircraft developed cracks in their wings and fuselage, though Japan's defence ministry was unable to tell us how this would affect testing or procurement timeframes.

Ping.
Good article. The last Kawi I bought new was the ‘72 H-2 750 triple. What a missile that was. Incredible straight line stuff, (for that era, 12.4 quarter or so), but handled BAD!!!
Looks like they plan on punching some holes in that Chinese carrier.
1977 KZ650 Custom. *sigh* Sometimes I miss the “good ol’s days”....
This Kawasaki isn’t a motorcycle.
2009 Versys here. Great bike. That 750 triple was fast. The dealer in Imperial Beach took his first one up the Silver Strand. He was going 80 MPH and opened the throttle too fast. Wheelie time. Scared the crap put of him.
More like the P8
Boy howdy!! I traded that 750 Trip in on the then brand new for ‘73 Kawa 900 Z-1. Damn, what a bike! Quicker by just a bit, (depending on the tune and rider) then the mighty immortal Honda 750 Four but did not track as well in the turns as was Kawi’s lament then. Wish I had ‘em both back now!! Had the the ‘69 H-1 500 trip. (worst handling bike ever!!!), also before those. Good old days is right!! I wasn’t a kid then.....amazing I didn’t kill myself!!!!
Its a joke
They wouldn’t use this plane for that job.
The missile almost certainly hasn’t got the range to let this plane do the shooting.
You want something faster and stealthier that can get closer to shoot before its intercepted.

McDonnell 119, that is.
Lulz — my first thought was, “wtf?”
