Floridas most experienced political professionals are closely divided on whether Rick Perry or Mitt Romney will win Floridas Republican presidential primary, but overwhelmingly they see Romney as the stronger candidate to beat Barack Obama in Florida.
More than 100 of Floridas sharpest political minds participated in the latest St. Petersburg Times Florida Insider Poll - including campaign consultants, lobbyists, activists - and the results were striking: Two thirds of Democrats and two thirds of Republicans pegged Romney as the stronger general election candidate, though Republicans were considerably more confident than Democrats that Perry would win Floridas crucial presidential primary early next year.
Half the Republicans predicted Romney would win the primary and 41 percent predicted Perry. Among Democrats, 56 percent expected Perry to win the primary and 37 percent said Romney.
"Lets face it, Rick Perry is comfort food! Like pot roast, mashed potatoes, and extra gravy it feels good going down, then comes indigestion in the morning. Mitt is more of a balanced diet, high on vegtables, low on sweets, a recipe that is likely to win the blue ribbon on election day," said one Republican.

I’m in Florida, Mitt, can’t wait to not vote for ya.
Yeah, you should have seen what he did to McCain.
“It’s Mitt or we sit.”
One is conservative on about 10% of the issues, the other on about 95%.
No to Romney. NEVER EVER EVER! If he is nominated, it may be the death knell of the Republican party, there are too many of us who will no longer hold our noses and vote for RINOs like Romney.
Character, honesty and integrity matters and Romney has none of that. NO MORE COMPROMISING GOP!
If you believe that, I feel sorry for you.
About 6 years of experience?
To what avail?

It would be a Pyrrhic victory at best. I have made myself clear on this, I will never vote for Romney for any reason. This is time to stand on our principles.
At this point: McCain/Dole, The guy down the street/ The guy down the next street; Me/ My French Poodle
Hell, anybody but Obama!
Mitt can beat Obama, at what exactly? Political prostitution?
Floridas most experienced political professionals are idiots. They don’t call it the stupid party for nothing. Romney is the only Republican running guaranteed to lose to Obama. I wouldn’t vote for that flip-flopping big government statist bastard if my life depended on it. FUMR!!
Okay, then let’s nominate Gov. Terry Branstad (R-IA) for president, since he has even more experience than Ricardo and Milt! I didn’t realize that was the criteria...
>>> “ Romney will not win the primary. He will not get conservative support because he is a stinkn liberal.” <<<
Look out for crossover voting, caucas highjacks, and faux Republican registrations. I’m not so sure that we will even be the ones doing all the nominatin’. Actually, I don’t know the impact of those caucas states going awry, but if there were ever to be a cycle for seriousl concern, this will be that year.
Umm is he in the race?
And BTW, experience is an issue.
So, who is the true conservative in the race?
Ethanol pisses me off.
The question is who is the most conservative candidate that can go the distance and win.
We’ll see how this all shakes out.
Sadly our nominee gets selected by a lot of chuckleheads in the early open primarys.
And BTW, experience is an issue.

In your view. Experience should be less of an issue than worldview and past political decisions/stances.
Sadly, a lot of people on this forum have stated that they will "hold their nose and vote for him in the general" and are quick to call me an Obama voter because I won't.
I held my nose for the very last time when I voted for McCain and then only because Palin was also on the ticket. If, God forbid, Romney wins the primaries, I don't care who he selects as running mate, I'll never vote for him.
