PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A tea party candidate who plans to run against Sen. Olympia Snowe in next year's Senate Republican primary is inviting Snowe to debate him.

Since it’s unrealistic to think the GOP can get to 60 seats in 2012, I’d much rather get rid of Olympia Snowe, even if it means a Dem wins, than have 6 more years of her RINO self blowing up party unity in the Senate.
If by some chance the GOP has a shot at 60, I’d hold my nose and want Snowe just for the super-majority, which will likely be needed to kill BummerCare. Actually, 59 seats may do it, because I’m guessing Joe Manchin would break with his party and vote for cloture on a repeal.
Better investment than the money I sent to Scott Brown.

What??? How on earth is this bad news? Maybe bad news for Dems who love the fact that this RINO votes with them on a pretty consistent basis. But great news for everyone else who wants this woman gone. We need a primary challenge for each and every office holding RINO.
Liberal states elect liberal conservatives. If enough conservative votes are pulled away from Snowe, the Democrat will win and we'll never get to the majority we need to stop this president. Allowing the Democrats to defeat Snowe or Collins is a fail for conservatives.
No. Use your brain. The Democrat-held seats should be targeted, not seats held by Republicans. Its not the time to be risking these safe seats with challenges. Liberal states elect liberal Republicans.
I think the story means that the ‘Tea Party’ candidate will challenge Snowe for the Republican primary. I don’t think he’s thinking Third Party, at least I hope not. Frankly, regardless that she’s a RINO, she’s one more R in the column when determining who sits in the Chairman’s seat on the Senate Committees.
It would be good news for the Maine repubs to field a conservative Republican for the election instead of a socialist like the incumbent.

I might be in agreement with your logic except for the fact that if one allowed ANY Dumbocrat to get elected, it is extremely difficult to defeat an incumbent. Let’s be careful what we wish for.
How can you target a Democratically controlled seat in a Republican Primary? Tell me when is it a good time to challenge RINO’s? Since we shouldn’t be taking any risks why don’t we just throw in the towel and see if we can get McCain to run for President again or let’s support all the RINO’s we can. Better still let’s all just go run and hide.
