The KGUN9 News desk has received call from half a dozen people saying that David-Monthan AFB is on lockdown due to a possible shooter in the Civil Engineering building. KGUN9 News has not been able to reach anyone in authority to confirm those calls. One caller said she was inside the BX grocery store in the base when an announcement came over the PA stating that the store's doors would be locked due to reports of a shooter on base with an AK 47. Three callers stated that there were up to 2 shooters and that multiple shots had been fired. Stay with KGUN9 News for more on this developing story.
Update: Davis-Monthan has just provided a brief statement to the media confirming the lockdown but giving no other information. The statement reads, "D-M has reduced movements to single-point entry due to a potential security situation. Officials are currently investigating the situation, and more information will be forthcoming."
Davis-Monthan AFB is within the city limits of Tucson, Arizona.
Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is on lockdown. Reports say gunshots have been reported on the base and University Medical Center has been placed on trauma alert. Airman Michael Washburn confirmed the lockdown, but said he could not give a reason for the order.
However, D-M said earlier in the day that there is a 'potential security situation' but no details were provided. About seven fire rescue units were seen racing into the base just before noon.

One viewer said his wife had called him from the base. She said what she was hearing was that shots had been fired, but there are no reports of any fatalities.
KGUN9 News had been in direct contact with several callers from the base. But shortly after those calsl began, the quality of cell phone service decreased dramatically, raising the possibility that the base had taken action to restrict such communications.
One caller who was locked down inside an area of the base sent this text at 12:21 PM: “I’m sorry we don’t have any facts to share. We have not received any new instruction. Phone service is bad.”
There have been no new announcements from D-M about the incident.
Tuscon Independent School District operates a school on base - Borman Elementary. A spokesperson for the district tells KGUN9 News that those children are safe.
The lockdown also creates problems for TUSD students who live on base but who go to school off base. A TUSD spokesperson told KGUN9 News that those children will not be able to return home for now. They will be remaining at their off-base schools for now. TUSD is in the process of notifying school principals about the situation.\
KGUN9 News wishes to emphasize at this point that although the word of the lockdown is official, there has been no official explanation for it. There is absolutely no confirmed word of any shots being fired, a shooter or shooters being on the lose, or of anyone having been injured.

Has Sherriff Dumprik blamed the teaparty yet?
KGUN-TV is now saying that Davis-Monthan told them there were no shots fired but there is a security situation, whatever that means.
I’m sure Dupnik will want to say something about civil discourse.
Davis-Monthan Air Force Base now says that while it does remain on lockdown due to some kind of security threat, no shots have been fired, and no one has been injured. The base still has not disclosed the precise nature of the security threat.
at 12:31 the base posted this information on its Facebook Page: “Reports of suspicious activity have caused D-M officials to declare a higher state of security. No shots have been fired and no one has been hurt.”

Probably an invading squad of Mexican military. Watch for an immediate unconditional surrender by this administartion.
AFB Facebook page says the ambulance leaving the base is due to a pregnancy and not related to the security situation.
Following, the information here at FR.
Well, if a text can still be sent, then any “possibility that the base had taken action to restrict such communications” isn’t very probable. Or at least, not working very well.
A Tech Sgt being mobbed by reporters is now saying that someone was spotted carrying a weapon.
Reports say gunshots have been reported on the base and University Medical Center has been placed on trauma alert.

About seven fire rescue units were seen racing onto the base just before noon with their lights and sirens on.
A TUSD school on the base, Borman Elementary, and the charter school Sonora Science Academy were also put on lockdown.
Sarah Peterson, who was on her way to work on base. She was in line for about 90 minutes. Her husband called her from base in his car.
Peterson said he was not allowed to get out of his car. He told her there were reports of a gunman on the base.

or the responsible authorities could be incompetents running around like chickens with their heads cut off
The local Tucson TV reporter was saying that the lockdown was due to someone “who may or may not have had a weapon.” Sometimes they need to think before they speak. Why would there be a problem with someone who may NOT have had a weapon?
Back when I rode the TUSD buses they could still get on and off base during lock down, it was just a pain in the butt because our bus usually entered in 1 gate and out another and neither was the gate that stayed open during lock down. Usually added about an hour to my bus trip (I always had the base between me and school). Wonder if things have changed that much or if the TUSD spokesperson is just clueless.
It must be the TV stations fault. After all they are KGUN~!
The base’s Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/DMAFB
“Davis-Monthan AFB is responding to a unconfimed report of an individual with a weapon. Local agencies are engaged per standard operating procedures.”
If I understand, the charter school does not have bus service and have to be dropped off and picked up by their parents.
