Not content with going after the nation's children, its grocery stores, the food pyramid and McDonalds, Michelle Obama is now going after the country's most beloved restaurant chains
Olive Garden, Red Lobster and its sister restaurants have pledged to serve healthier meals by cutting calories and sodium in its meals by 20 per cent over a decade.
And if the little ones desire some French fries they will only be able to do so with adult supervision.
Among promised changes for children, Darden Restaurants Inc said a fruit or vegetable side and low-fat milk will become standard with kids' meals unless a substitution is requested.
The First Lady called it a 'breakthrough moment' for the industry.

Hey, I was raised on good ol’ East Texas food...bacon grease in the veggies, WHOLE milk and butter, pork fixed every way you can cook it, RED meat and when I was a teenager we were at the burger joint as much as we could be and that’s just a start. I’m long in the tooth now and enjoying the same thing. I may die tomorrow but I’ll die happy!
What an infernal idea. Some vegetarian cooking is tasty, but I always hate it when it tries to masquerade as meat, e.g. vegetarian “burgers,” “hot dogs,” and “chili.” That never works for me.
What the F country do I live in, anymore? Condoms on demand, abortion on demand, but my kid (if i had one) has to have parental consent before ordering french fries?
The same people who think sex, porn and condoms for kids is fine won’t let them have a salty snack.
Think about that.
I hear ya. We had every fried object you could think of. We were a burger joint with four others before the chains moved in. Soft serve ice-cream cone dipped in whatever flavor possible, it was endless. Years my close friends might have enjoyed more than myself. :^)
Those were the good old days weren’t they?......:)
I was hoping McDonalds would offer one with their Happy Meals, but they only have one that holds Apple slices now.
Guess which of those 3 women eats lots of olive oil, probably butter, salt, and assorted other items? Guess which one advises us NOT to!?
by the way in Pittsburgh, PA. we have burgers that are made with FF on top of sandwich..wonder if we will get to keep that???
hurry up 2012
the 1960’s, 70’s even 80’s what fun we could have..kids are missing so much, we didn't all have cell's and computers but we had family dinners and happy lives.
there was a diner on West 117th st. Cleveland, Ohio that made a ‘to die for’ burger that dripped butter..damn they were good..place called ‘Diney’s’ or something similar..
good old days. I treasure my memories...
My supervisor’s husband said when he watches the news, now, he feels as if he is living in the twilight zone. I have to agree.
Young girls are now encouraged (by the “adults” of our society) to learn about sex, have sex, get pregnant, and abort babies....all without parental consent; while now these same “adults” are requiring parental consent for the same “child” to eat french fries. ????????????????????
I never did understand why we sent teenagers to be killed on the front lines but not allow them to smoke cigarettes. This is kind of the same thing.
It looks as if there is a faction of “adults” who want to kill the children while appearing to save the children.

Love the picture, but I am going to have to correct the ‘your’ to you’re before I can use it elsewhere.
In the past, when travelling, I have always sought out both Olive Garden and Red Lobster restaurants as I knew what to expect
However, I am thinking that from now on, I won’t be in any hurry to part with what money is left at end of month to eat at Darden establishments since they are supporting and kowtowing to this administration’s efforts to meddle in all areas of our lives :(
Blackie O is approaching 300 lbs. and she’s the Nutrition Czar?
Besides, she way behind the curve. They have finally realized that fat-free diets are actually very unhealthy. It's knowing WHICH fats to eat and which to stay away from.
They now know that butter and lard - yes LARD (as long as it's organic) is very healthy for the body.
I use coconut oil, grapeseed oil and lard for cooking, baking and salads. I make ghee from organic butter and render my own lard.
All of the above have a higher burn point than olive oil and, unlike olive oil, don't go rancid.
It's really late so I'm not going to get my links on all this - but it's all available inline.
I'll just put this one:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fat/NU00262
“Fat is essential to your health because it supports a number of your body's functions. Some vitamins, for instance, must have fat to dissolve and nourish your body.”
If moochell MUST exercise her socialist urges, let her go after the food poisoners that make and use things like HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) that is all but 100% of our soda and other drinks, in deserts, baked goods, gum, etc. Beside the myriad other health problems with it, it causes - are you listening, Moochell? - OBESITY.
Take a chart showing the increased use of HFCS since it's beginning use and a chart of the explosion of obesity - and they are the same.
Go after the Monsanto monster and their GMO’d foods - chemical and pesticides on/in our foods that can wreck havoc with our health.
(Canada and Mexico won't allow sodas with HFCS. They get Coca Cola in GLASS bottles with cane SUGAR!. So Coca Cola makes it that way, but we aren't even given the option to choose it over the HFCS ones. I just stopped drinking soda.
Anyway, the point is, if she's really worried about anyones health, let he go after the big guys that we little people can't do much about other than not buy their products.
hmm - no, we politicians don't step on the big guys - aka donors - toes, do we.
Did someone say “Crony Capitalism?”
