Maybe we could stop skimming 30 or 40% off highway funds and fix the bridges instead of paying for high speed rail and parking apps for phones.
I hope he’s on one when it does.
All at once?
Even if we did need new bridges, the environmentalists would never allow them to be built.
priorities.
Let’s see, there are funds for abortions worldwide, guns to Mexico, $530 Million to defunct solar companies, studies of the brown marsh mouse, and to study male genital size’s relationship to passive gay role playing, but nothing for bridges unless they can raise your taxes.
A modern day Emporer with no clothes.
Obama is coming unglued.
He has definately jumped the shark.
He is a product of affirmative action and a person who has been able to cruise because of racial preferences. He has a thin skin and doesn’t seem well prepared to make serious compromise or to face the prospect of not getting what he wants.
And more than that - I don’t think Obama has ever had to cope with serious conflict or challenges before, and he probably has never had to deal with open ridicule and people laughing at him.
He had better get used to it.
A real press question would be: Mr Obama, these bridges didn’t just need repair overnight. Why wasn’t any of your FIRST TRILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT earmarked for these obviously known deficient structures?
It’s just total kabuki BS.
Before, or after Obama's collapse???
Not too long ago he said there isn’t anyone around that does bridge building anymore it has been so long since we built a major bridge. His solution to this problem is to hire out of work home construction people to build bridges. He doesn’t seem to realize that building houses and bridges for the most part require different skills.
I am constantly astonished at his lack of knowledge of many things that you would think the average person would know. But the dims claim President Bush was an idiot...
The only bridge I’ve heard of recently that is in big trouble is the Sherman-Minton Bridge in Louisville. Back in Feb 2009, the bridge took a barge strike, and this apparently caused serious damage that is just now making itself known. The bridge has been shut down, causing severe traffic congestion, as this is the main route over the Ohio River for I-64.

In one of Obama’s first longwinded speeches pushing the “stimulus”, he called for the exorbitant sum in order in part to repair the “infrastructure”, roads, bridges, things like that for the “shovel ready” jobs it would provide. When he got what he wanted, the infrastructure along with the shovel ready jobs was ejected into the old memory hole. Now, he wants the same thing all over again. Huh?
He says so much, folks, that we’re just plain old exhausted and confused. I AM SO TIRED OF THIS SORT OF STUFF . . . .
153 less places where the feds can use our money to enable the locals to set up "Click It or Ticket" or those stupid "DWI" checkpoints in order to further suppress people's right to travel.
Less choke points, more freedom.
The one I recall is the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis in 2007.

He won’t spend the money on bridges; he’ll funnel it to the unions to support his re-election campaign.
153 divided by 57, that is 2.69 bridges per state.
Actually according to this site http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/bridge/nbi/defbr10.cfm#c, there are over 146,000 deficient bridges.
