Another protest of the Sarah Palin book
Politico ^ | 09/15/11 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 09/15/2011 9:17:15 AM PDT by freespirited

Molly Ball passes along this unsolicited statement - proffered by a PR firm with ties to Sarah Palin - from a Brad Hanson, who used to own a snowmobile business with Todd Palin and who is alleged in the new Palin tome by Joe McGinniss to have had an affair with her:

"This is the same old story that went around in 2008. It is a complete and outright lie. Todd and Sarah Palin have been good friends for many years, and in fact we still own property together. We sold a former joint business venture for business reasons, nothing more. These attacks are shameful and those making them seem to be out only to destroy good people and make money doing so."

The book actually hasn't been getting much by way of mainstream attention, but this could help get it at least a passing glance.

I imagine this will not be the last challenge to the book's veracity.

Well its getting plenty air time on all of our favorite news channel MSNBC. Ms. Savannah Gentry has about an eight minute piece with Mr. McGinnis. Its on rotation every hour. It is simply the worst I have ever seen on MSNBC. Every Freeeper, regardless fan or foe of Palin, needs to send MSNBC the finger!!

Even the New York Times dismissed this book as “gossip”.

The net result? Backlash against the lying lberal next door neighbor stalker POS who wrote it and any and all other left-tards that swallow this load of moose-crap.

This book is caustic. Maybe Bill Maher will endorse it. But no one will.

Ding! Ding! All aboard for the slander lawsuit train! Next destination, a large settlement with popcorn for the ride.

Regular old NBC is doing their part as well.

She needs to slap with a lawsuit hard. I will even chip in money to the cause.

Joe McPenis, I don't care who you are, that is a excellent play on words. You may consider it stolen for here forth I will refer to him no other way.

Although Sarah is a public figure (making lawsuits difficult), there will certainly be others in the book who are smeared, and can hopefully sue McGinniss to the point he’s physically rendered a barren carcus to match his already evil, perverted soul.

The entire nation is being driven into the Abyss by Barack Obama
yet people like this author are still suffering with Palin Derangement
Syndrome and spending their time mucking through Sarah's septic tank.

Since MSLSD gets what, 10 viewers total, I doubt anyone gives a crap what MSDNC has to say..I mean heck, what do you expect MSNBC to do, report the news, like unemployment numbers rising today..yeah right..that would make their messiah look bad

I have it on good authority that Joe McGinnis is a well-known pedophile. Anyone wanna write a book on it?

She doesn’t hold elected or appointed political office. Doesn’t she have the same rights as a “private citizen” as anybody else? (Sincere question. I know nothing about such things.)

One would think so. But experts in these things seem to say it makes for a much tougher road, by being a such a public figure.

She has a right to sue in defamation, but she has a more difficult burden of proof than your ordinary private citizen. Because she is a public figure, there is a right to free speech that must be balanced against the right to protect her reputation. This is solved, theoretically, by requiring her to show “actual malice” (aka NYT malice) on the part of the defamer. So she must prove that the claims are false, and that the defamer knew or should have known they were false when they published them. It is rare to have a smoking gun that shows such malice, but perhaps an email or other private communication would turn up in discovery. Anyway, this difficulty, combined with the political cost of keeping the false statements in the headlines, precludes most public figures from suing in defamation. Rebuttal or defiant dismissal are more likely. Not ideal, but that Constitution of ours is worth protecting, as I’m sure Sarah would agree.
