AUSTIN, Texas A Texas teenager was charged with assault after six students were hospitalized when they ate marijuana-laden brownies he served them at a school band practice, myFOXaustin.com reported Wednesday.
Kevin Coffey, a 17-year-old student at Austin's Lake Travis High School, told authorities he didn't know the brownies contained drugs when he handed them out -- but police said text messages he had sent to friends proved otherwise.
Police said many of the students were unaware of the brownies being laced with pot and six were transported to the hospital by their parents.

I hope he at least gave each of them a quart of milk to go with the brownies ...
Poisoning? You gotta be kidding. Thats the same mentality that calls one girl giving another girl a Midol “drug dealing”.
It was a silly prank and he should be in a little trouble. But assault is violence, this was attempted peace./
Besides,,if they ATE the brownie, shouldn’t it be Battery? After all, the “assault” was “completed”.
This seems more “naughty”, than evil.
As a parent, I'm inclined to agree... but as an observer in this case, I must say that those must have been some amazingly potent brownies to cause symptoms that intense. Caution is good, no argument. But hopefully a majority of those parents -- some of whom had undoubtedly eaten and enjoyed pot brownies in the past, this being Austin -- also felt a little silly afterwards.
Yes, that’s true, and if he made the brownies with kine bud, and then gave them to people who have no tolerance for THC, the effect can be sort of similar to LSD, although not quite as intense, and it can last a long time.
Don’t ask me how I know these things >_>
But also, remember that cop who made some weed brownies from some stolen weed or something, then called 911 to report that he was dying.
He was tripping is what he was.
We stuffed a hoagie down a sousaphone once.
And a big box of ABBA-ZABBA Bars.
(Anyone who gets that reference, take the baggie out of the shower curtain rod... now!)
I believe that the clinical term is "TRIPPING BALLS".
LOL.
parents speeding their little darlings to the EMERGENCY ROOM? LOL

I'm with you on that. That's why I think the dumb kid that did this should indeed be punished, not just reprimanded.
This happened to my daughter about 15 years ago. She wound up in the emergency room. Not at all like giving someone a Midol.
I mean,, assault is if i swing my fist and miss. But if I connect, then it’s battery. So,,,, if he connected with the brownie,, isn’t that actually Battery? I think assault would fit if he said “say,, wanna groovy brownie?”. And the kid says,, no, thanks, im chewing gum right now.
THAT would be assault, (with a loaded brownie)
I stand corrected — giving someone a poisoned brownie which they eat would be a battery.
It seems the LD50 of THC would gag you let alone marijuana.
Must have been pretty sheltered kids....
Good thing he didn’t load the brownies with about 1000 michaels of Owsley
Those kids would be cooked....but super high ingested pot dose is sorta like Sidney in an accelerated internal dialogue way
I have seen folks bad trip essentially on “shatter”....an 80 percent THC rock oil synthesized from good quality herb...
Called me to take then to the ER
I told em to grow a pair and take some Klonipin.....the hipster boys of,today dont know their dope like we did in the mid 70s...girls
