Many supporters of Gov. Perry have come to his defense over this Gardasil matter. The arguments are: (1) Gardasil should have been mandatory with the "opt-out" provision; (2) No big deal because the Texas legislature killed the Executive Order; or (3) as Perry says today, he made a mistake, should have made it "opt-in." Now comes word that Perry's top donor was the Republican Governors Association and that Merck began donating to RGA when Perry became its head.
Point taken.
When you’re sitting in the office of Governor, that’s a lot of power. Big money can take you far, and it can give your power a big boost.
But eventually the truth comes out.
Do you?
I think the legislature did what they thought best; I think you hate Texan women and relish the idea of their families suffering as they die slowly from cervical cancer.
I think you’d willingly withhold the vaccines even if you saw a way to get them distributed at no cost.
Judge harshly and you will be judged harshly.
Until everyone's blue in the face and they realize what a 'former Democrat-turned "Republican" self-proclaimed 'Tea Party Conservative' can do while still proclaiming himself to be a 'former Democrat-turned "Republican" self-proclaimed 'Tea Party Conservative'.
“It’s actually a Sarah Palin talking point from FoxNews on Monday night.”
And I am disappointed that she parrots the DU...
Perry screwed up and admits it. That's something his followers cannot do.
What we should have done was a program that frankly should have allowed them to opt in, or some type of program like that, but heres what I learned when you get too far out in front of the parade they will let you know. And thats exactly what our legislature did.
UPDATE: I made a mistake on that, Perry told Iowa Radio later in the day Monday, calling it an error"...
Thank you. Gardasil has always been misrepresented.
I thought she hit Romney a few times but not like Perry. Perry was in his second debate. I think Michele was 100 percent correct to go after him since we know nothing about the guy. Romney has been vetted to death. Perry not at all. That is the main reason why I was happy with how Michele conducted herself.
Either you’re for crony capitalism or you’re against it.
Fess up.
SP parrots the truth. She’s calling out Perry for being a Corporate Crony Capitalist. Some people hate to admit that, because they have invested their hearts (not their minds) in this candidate without analyzing what his actions were versus his words (where have we seen this before?).
Was Rick Perry's former chief of staff NOT a Merck lobbyist?
Was his chief of staff at the time of the Gardasil executive order NOT the mother-in-law of the Texas Head of Women in Government?
Was Women in Government NOT the group that Merck used to lobby across the country to push Gardasil mandates?
Does Perry NOT have a Rezko-like land deal in his past? (Remember, that video was made for Democrats, so that's why it's at a 4 year old level of explanation of the Horseshoe Bay land scandal)
Does Thrombovision (seriously, LOL at the name you know you want to) NOT give the appearance of being a complete scam to line the pockets of major donors?
So, tell me...where am I lying, bucko? Because every time you accuse me of some BS, I'm going to repeat these facts and I'm going to put more links that more people will click, so more people will read about Rick Perry's vile record of shocking corruption.
Before we run another one of their boys for President they're going to have to figure out they are part of the United States first.
That starts the vetting process. So far the Perbots aren't doing so well.
Yeah, me, too. But...I love the education we are getting from it on personal freedom and liberty and government overreach.
Can't get much more important than that, since they are essentially at the core of all of our Republic's problems.
Clearly, the education is needed.
I'm very surprised that there are so many here, especially from Texas of all places, who happily give up their and others' liberty and freedom, whether they get something for them or not, as long as it's their guy who's in charge.
We must turn that trend around or the nation won't be around much longer.
Did you hear Bachman on Hannity yesterday afternoon?
She may have great ideas and I love the idea that she is a tax lawyer, but her emotionally charged arguments which were, imo, intentionally factually inaccurate really soured me on her.
She might have great ideas but I don’t think she is the right person for the job.
I side with your conclusion. I believe more in educating families and letting them voluntarily decide what course of action to take, not mandate it from government.
If informed appropriately, what parent wouldn’t want to protect their daughters given all the available information?
“SP parrots the truth. Shes calling out Perry for being a Corporate Crony Capitalist.”
It appears to me that SP is simply trying to justify her entry into the field.
The problem arises when you call everything “crony capitalism” - especially done by innuendo. I’m not for or against Perry at this point. The race is far too young. I also welcome SP to the race, should she make the leap. I do dislike her populistic bent and I don’t think she will wear well, but that is for a majority of primary voters to decide. I get one vote.
I don't know. What about the argument used by the proponents of vaccination, that an individual's failure to be vaccinated exposes others to the possibility of acquiring a disease that could easily be prevented?
No one gave up anything regarding gardisil. No one was forced or could be forced to be inoculated.
Putting it on the mandatory list made is covered by insurance, otherwise it was a patient’s cost.
Don’t blame Perry for using the rules to benefit the people of Texas.
I’m shocked at the number of critics who only regurgitate talking points.
Do 'YOU' support Gardasil as a government mandate?
If you don't - then you are in conflict with Perry. Perry still supported it as a gov mandate.
If you do - then you and Perry are in agreement - but that is not what Reagan would have done.
Look, the entire state of Texas revolted over Perry's actions, that he got slammed by the Legislature, that should tell you something.
The legislature did what was right -- they overturned an unwanted and unneeded mandate. I agree with their decision as do many Americans who are now faced with the possibility that this nanny-state, crony capitalist Perry, who has since admitted his EO was a mistake wants to be our president.
I say no thanks, not because I hate women or because I want them to die of cancer. I say no thanks because I don't want a nanny-state liberal to be the Republican nominee.
That you made your ludicrous accusation but then refuse to apply the same warped 'logic' to those with power who actually overturned it speaks volumes on how weak your argument is and how weak your defense of RINO Mitt Perry is.
But I understand that was all you had; defending the indefensible probably isn't an easy thing to do, especially for someone as uninformed and inept as you. But I do thank you for having stopped running from your remark and finally answering for it, weak as your response may have been.
I don’t think she is either, but the debate made her look shallow to me.
Either way, she doesn’t have a shot.
