Also, I use either Tweetdeck or Hootsuite which allows you to save your searches and have a constant stream of the search criteria. They are very helpful. Perhaps we all start to standardize on #freerepublic as a hashtag for any FR related articles!
I second this. I knew about OBL’s death probably an hour or two before most people did.
Then after you hit enter and sent the text message, the whole world could very well realize how foolish you can be.
Proverbs tells us that,
In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.spacePro 10:19Basically Solomon is saying that it is impossible to speak much, and yet speak nothing but truth; and injure no mans character, or at least make a fool of yourself eventually.
For me, Twitter is a way for men (and women) to open their mouths and remove all doubts about their lack of true wisdom.
If you want to be heard, than start a blog and think hard before you hit enter for others to read, but texting the world or at least those who follow you (and anyone can follow you) via twitter will only cause you to respond with a knee jerk comment you will never ever be able to take back.
True wisdom requires thought and contemplation to make sure you answer in a way that is respected by God, not men. That is a very difficult thing to do in a hurry as Twitter demands. Especially when you are bombarded by some event that everyone else is commenting about before all the facts are presented.
I think you gave a pretty good summary of 90% of the posts, from what I’ve heard, and the little bit I’ve actually seen...
Add to that the fact that you can “tweet” at any time, from any place, and in any condition, and you are basically carrying a loaded gun with which to blow your life/reputation/employment out of the water at a moment’s notice.
Get drunk or high, pull out the phone, tweet. Mission accomplished: fired and/or disgraced and/or divorced in 140 characters or less...and memorialized in text for all time to boot. Hell of a tool for improving one’s life.
I should add that you don’t even have to be “drunk or high”...just a quick lapse of judgement can be enough...
You pass along bits of info: “WEEI to add FM simulcast Monday on 93.7” You can even add a link—if it’s a long one, you can go to TinyURL, paste the link in and get a shorter one that will fit.
Some news bits from around the world were spread on Twitter
(Egypt revolution etc.) Hash marks added can help you find tweets. When you add that mark people can find it
Example: Manny Ramirez being arrested.
I simply typed Manny into the search and got:
>>Manny Ramirez arrested on domestic violence charges. That’s just Manny being Chris Brown.
>>Manny Ramirez still trails Chris Brown in career hits.
>>Former Baseball Star Manny Ramirez Lashes Out at Reporters Following Domestic Violence Arrest: http://mbist.ro/nFkPYu (VIDEO)
>>Former Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez out of jail & ordered by judge 2 stay away from his wife http://bit.ly/owuC4c #fox25
You do realize that you can stay mostly anonymous right? You’re probably mostly ok if noone knows who you are.
Sure, it’s easy.
The posts of up to 140 characters are called ‘tweets.’
If you use it, you’re a twit.
If you’re a gal and use it, people will call you a tw...
Never mind.
Its like,,,,,,,,,,,its like,,,,,,,,,, its like,,,,,,,,,,
When ya take a dump you tweet about it. I really don’t understand... :>(((((((((
I do the Howie Carr ping list here on FR. I did a search for him and noticed someone pinged the thread

Someone else tweeted his latest column

Twitter is one of the best things to happen to sports viewing and coverage ever and is pretty good for breaking news as well. As with anything on the internet (even including Free Republic), you have to be discerning of what you read. Lots of misinformation and because it has a chat aspect to it, people do say things without thinking, but I enjoy it.
I’m not a member of Twitter, just so you know.
But basically, Twitter messages are delivered through messaging and Facebook messages are delivered through email.
Just like any blog except you only have a set number of characters so it reverts to text talk 2gt mssge out.
I just signed up last week - I was wondering how to read replies of someone’s tweet. Currently, I can only see the first 6 or 8 replies someone gets and can’t figure out to see more than that.
I don’t twitter or tweet, but I understand the principle.
But I’d like to know what it costs you. I’ve looked online, and I’ve read from free to some usage charges.
Presently I have a cell phone plan where I pay for each text message -it works for anti-social hermit folk like me :)
What does it cost you to use Twitter ? If you pay for a monthly text messaging service do you also have extra usage charges?
And what about international twittering ?
I don’t tweet, but those that do should definitely check, because if you’re paying per message, it certainly wouldn’t take long to run up a bill.
They will make you laugh.
I just got assigned to be one of the twitter guys to represent my company, so I’m trying to learn it. I haven’t set up my own account yet but will soon. It’s got some benefits but I’m not sure yet how big it can be.
Thanks
