Saudi Arabia threatens the US over veto
Israpundit ^ | 9-14-2011 | By TURKI AL-FAISAL, NYT

The United States must support the Palestinian bid for statehood at the United Nations this month or risk losing the little credibility it has in the Arab world. If it does not, American influence will decline further, Israeli security will be undermined and Iran will be empowered, increasing the chances of another war in the region.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia would no longer be able to cooperate with America in the same way it historically has. With most of the Arab world in upheaval, the “special relationship” between Saudi Arabia and the United States would increasingly be seen as toxic by the vast majority of Arabs and Muslims, who demand justice for the Palestinian people.

Saudi leaders would be forced by domestic and regional pressures to adopt a far more independent and assertive foreign policy. Like our recent military support for Bahrain’s monarchy, which America opposed, Saudi Arabia would pursue other policies at odds with those of the United States, including opposing the government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in Iraq and refusing to open an embassy there despite American pressure to do so. The Saudi government might part ways with Washington in Afghanistan and Yemen as well.

The Palestinian people deserve statehood and all that it entails: official recognition, endorsement by international organizations, the ability to deal with Israel on more equal footing and the opportunity to live in peace and security.

Dear Prince Turki Al-Faisal:

1.) You and your family of pigs can not survive against Iran without the USA. Iran wants Saudi Arabia, and we all know it.

2.) Recognition for the "Palestinians"- a people who don't even exist ??? Who refuse to recognize Israel as a Jewish State?????

3.) A nation for thieves, and murderers of children?

4.) You want to give these butchers a nation? Well, then ship them off to Saudi Arabia, and give them land. They are Arabs and Muslims. They belong among you. Not us. You have more than enough land to do this easily.

5.) And while you are at it, take your vulgar, gold domed, House of HaSoton off of our JEWISH Temple Mount, on the way out of the JEWISH Land of ISRAEL.

6.) Go to Hell.

If by "Palestinian" they mean the Jews who lived in the region before the Islamic radicals moved there to kill them...then yes they deserve statehood...which was granted in the wake of the shame and disgrace of letting the Holocaust happen.

If by "Palestinian" they mean the Islamic radicals who spend their time and effort blaming Jews and the United States and any form of non-Islamic civilization for all ills, and have dedicated their lives to wiping out those who are different them rather than improving their own lives...the ones who when given "land for peace" looted the land and wasted any future production of it, but instead live to kill Jews...the only hope for such people is to so soundly defeat them by force and strength that they give up their hate filled self and neighbor destructive "religion".

Interesting. The Saudis I went to college with despised Palestinians like some folks here despise illegals and viewed them as pretty much the same thing.

I wonder what would have happened if in 1990 we did not go into Gulf war 1?

What if we told Saddam -- go threaten the Saudis and continue your bloody war with Iran.

Then no US troops in Saudia or Iraq, no excuse for 9/11 (but they would have probably found another reason to attack us) and US troops out of the Middle East. What do you think?

Gas at $5.00 in 1991 and $12.00 today.

Economic upheaval commensurate.

(SWAG, PDOOMA. YMMV.)

I would prefer a more Rumsfieldian approach to diplomacy.

I’d just tell the King of Saud that, in light of current world politics, that it might be a better investment for the US to develop its domestic supply and alternative energy and not invest so much in protecting certain oil fields.

There is a real danger that the price of sand will rise making it more difficult to “go pound sand” and sandwiches may shrink to just “....wiches.”

Tremble, America, tremble!

Thanks Never A Dull Moment.

Funny thing, most of the 9/11 hijackers were citizens of, recruited by, and bankrolled by our “ally” Saudi Arabia.

A thinly veiled threat.

What have the so-called Palestinians ever done to deserve anything?

Have they ever shown the slightest evidence that they can even run a Government?
