RALEIGH, North Carolina, September 13, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – North Carolina voters have been granted a chance to vote on a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between one man and one woman next year.

The state Senate voted 30-16, with one Republican absent, to approve the measure Tuesday afternoon.

State Senator Warren Daniel of Morganton told LifeSiteNews.com that the amendment will go on the GOP primary ballot in May 2012.

“The people of this state, not judges, bureaucrats, or politicians, should define marriage, which I personally believe should be between one man and one woman,” said Daniel.

They are two sides of the same coin. A sound economy and social liberalism are incompatible. Social liberalism erodes the virtues that are necessary to maintain a complex market economy. Promiscuity, unwed mothers, drug use, accepting the sodomite lifestyle, unfaithfulness in dealings with others, etc. have led us to where we are and has led Europe to demographic collapse and to the brink of economic collapse of the EMU and several major economies.

Ru serious? This is a board of free thought and open debate. Not like the other side where everyone conforms and think the same. I’ve been an ACTIVE member of FR for 10 yrs and I think the way I think because I am my own individual. How long have you been here fwdude? And how about fighting your own battles and not crying to Jim.

Why on the Primary Ballot, it should be on the General Election ballot.

Read the article. Apparently Democrat lawmakers were accusing Republican proponents of the initiative of using it as a "wedge issue" to bring out the conservative vote during the general election, which the Obammunist only won by a hair in NC in 2008. So to placate the Dems and gain their vote "for" the amendment, they moved it to the May primary. Now, more democrats are crying foul about this election date, saying that mostly Republicans will be voting in the primary anyway.

There's no way to please a communist.

Good rebuttal. Now that’s how to debate on FR.

Wonderful! As this really IS a States Rights issue over which the Federal Government HAS no Constitutional Authority — it’s simply NOT amongst their enumerated powers — then North Carolinians have every right to determine for their state whether they will recognize marriage, or pervert it’s meaning into something else that called itself marriage, or settle on calling social/family relationship “contracts” by another name. This is the way it ought to be.

It is a Federal issue when you cross state lines. It will eventually be decided by SCOTUS which is why, whoever the GOP nominee is, we must defeat Obama.
